Centrally located on Main Street this famous property was the birthplace to Admiral Nimitz. It was built in 1866 by Carl Basse. There is an historical marker in font of the house, which is fascinating to read if you are a history buff. For many years after the house was built the upstairs was used as “the boys” bedroom. The downstairs is now the home of Fitz and Hollerin, which you will definitely want to visit if there are any children in your life. The stairs to the left of the store lead up to this cozy little suite that makes a perfect getaway for two.
The theme for the suite is “U.S. Navy” and is unbelievably well done. Inside there are two wicker chairs placed to enjoy the television. The bed is covered in a fabulous navy quilt with the Navy Seal placed in the center and topped with fluffy red, white and blue pillows. There is a small table with two chairs. For your convenience there is a small refrigerator, coffeemaker and microwave. The bath boasts an old copper tub with shower. The sink in the bathroom is also copper.
This wonderful suite is right on E. Main Street just steps from the Fredericksburg Brewery and most shops and restaurants. It is an attic so the ceiling is A-shaped with exposed rafters.

“Experience historical downtown Fredericksburg in Nimitz birthpla”

We stayed at the admirals Quarters on the first night of our sister trip and were not disappointed!! Loved the Nautical Theme in keeping with the historical Nimitz birthplace (the room is exactly as it appears in photos). The Keurig was a pleasant modern touch and the very generous Rathskeller breakfast coupons were appreciated. As my sister and I jokingly commented to our friends, "We slept in the Nimitz' Attic and ate breakfast in the basement of the Old Keidel Memorial Hospital aka The Morgue!!
