Southern Comfort indeed! What a treat you have in store. This wonderful home sits on two lots, which makes it a great place for children to run and run. The original house was ordered as a kit from Sears and Roebuck in 1912. The house model was called The Hamilton and sold for $1,023. The neighborhood where it sits is called Walch Terrace and the house was the home of Mr. Herbert Walch. During Mr. Walch’s life the house stood in fields of native grasses and bluebonnets as well as farm land. As Fredericksburg grew so did the number of houses around the now “Southern Comfort”!
A long front porch is waiting for your relaxing moments with rockers and a swing. This will be the perfect place for visiting and catching up with your loved ones. Entering into the foyer you will see a comfy, yet elegant, living room on your right. The corner sofa, overstuffed leather chair and straight back arm chairs are perfect for watching the cable television. On the left side of the foyer is a dining room with harvest table, six red straight back chairs and a decorative fireplace. The contemporary antique décor is truly breathtaking. The kitchen is a dream come true. Nice and spacious, this kitchen has a gas grill range/oven, farm sink, plus an island for extra work space and the stools provide a great place for extra people to visit. It creates the perfect picture for a family get-together. The downstairs bath has a clawfoot tub and overhead shower.
Upstairs is the home to all three bedrooms. A king bed is found in the main bedroom topped with natural colors of beiges and browns…..very eye catching. The second bedroom has a queen bed topped with a beautiful sea green. As you walk through the second bedroom you will find the third bedroom with a queen bed and day bed…..both have iron beds with a tasteful comforter and pillows. The bath upstairs is found between the first bedroom and the second bedroom and also has a clawfoot tub with overhead shower. The upstairs door takes you to a long porch with rocking chairs to enjoy the morning birds and brisk cool air—the porch has a low banister so please be careful when looking over the porch.
