SeaGlass Cottage was built in 2011 on 5 acres and this is her third season as a vacation rental. 2013 and 2014 were awesome years and we got to meet many new friends through the Cottage rental and numerous trips out on the sailboat with guests. We are hoping for a nice warm, dry summer this year so we can take lots of new guests sailing again.
Do you like to sail, or would like to see if you do? Contact us. Contingent upon scheduling we are offering our guests, at no cost, an evening sail on our 42 foot sailboat out of Roche Harbor. Email me and I will give you the details. Please schedule a ways in advance so we can plan accordingly, as my wife and I both work regular jobs as well as taking guests sailing. We will make every accomodation possible to make it happen on your vacation.
The Cottage has two bedrooms and one bathroom. The master bedroom has a King size bed and flat screen HDTV. The guest bedroom has a full size bed. Both bedrooms have windows viewing the surrounding woods. The living room has windows to the woods and extensive grassy yard, or just sit on the couch and watch television on the 60 inch flat screen HDTV. The living room television has a BluRay/DVD player and there is also a DVD player in the master bedroom. The Cottage has Directv. The kitchen has all new appliances. There is a range/oven, dishwasher, fridge and a brand new washer and dryer. A brand new Weber BBQ is located just outside the back door. The kitchen has everything stocked for you just to show up and cook any of your favorites, saving you money from the cost of eating out. You can just cook it, walk right into the grassy front yard and sit in the bright adirondack chairs and enjoy the meal and the peace of the Cottage while the deer roam in the yard..
The property is 5 wooded acres with a large, sunny yard. There is a fenced in area which doubles as an orchard or dog run if you choose to bring your pets with you. One of the benefits of this pet friendly property is that the floors in the Cottage are heated cement slab floors, which means you can either bring your dog inside, or leave it outside in the kennel area to watch the deer stroll by. We are meticulous about house keeping, though, so if you are coming without pets don't worry about whether the previous guest had any, we won't leave any fur souvenirs for you!
The Cottage is located on the Westside of San Juan Island. The premiere kayak launching areas on the island are San Juan County Park and Snug Harbor Resort, both within one mile of the Cottage. While there is no direct view of the water from the Cottage, you will enjoy abundant privacy, a quiet setting, and could take a walk to the end of the driveway and be able to see a short distance to where the water is.
Roche Harbor is about 6 miles away. Historic English Camp is only 4 miles away. If you are a bicycle rider or kayaker this puts you right in the middle of the highest demand locations. Whale watching tours are also available out of Snug Harbor Resort, less than a mile away. Lime Kiln Lighthouse, the premiere whale watching location from shore is only 3.7 miles away from the Cottage. Friday Harbor and the ferries are located 9 miles away. One of our guests had difficulties negotiating the island last year, so we will make sure there are some good maps available upon your arrival.
If you choose to stay at the SeaGlass Cottage let us know how we can assist with local information, tour information, etc. We will be glad to help. We live locally on the island and will most likely only be minutes away if you need anything. We are a family run Cottage and live in the Cottage in the off season.

SeaGlass Cottage, Dog friendly, Sailing offered. Friday Harbor, Washington
Additional Location Information
The SeaGlass Cottage is located on 5 wooded acres with a large, sunlit grassy yard. There is a large firepit outside with benches around it for night time fires. We will make sure there is split firewood available. The neighbors can be seen at a distance through the trees. The area is very quiet and secure. Near the Cottage is most everything the island has to offer. Whale Watching, kayaking, bicycling, boating, or go to town and peruse the various stores and restaurants. If you want peace and quiet this is the place. While there is no water view from the property itself, San Juan County park and Snug Harbor Resort are only a mile away. Easily walked in about 15 minutes. If there is fog on the water you can sit and listen to the big ships fog horns in the distance while watching the deer and listening to all the birds on the property. There is plenty of parking on the property, so if you have multiple cars or a large RV you are in luck!
We have begun offering to take our guests for an evening sail out of Roche Harbor on our 42 foot Catalina sailboat. This is at no charge. You will be our guests! Due to our schedules (we both work full time on the Island), we cannot guarantee a sail, but will make every effort to give you a vacation of your dreams. Again, this is at no cost to our guests. Please email with questions.

SeaGlass Cottage was a perfect place for us to stay with our son. We were there for four nights. It is well laid out, immaculately maintained and tastefully decorated. We explored San Juan and Orca Islands by day, and came back late afternoon to relax and make leisurely dinners at the cottage. We took Brad and Cathy up on their offer for a boat ride and that was pretty extraordinary - beautiful scenery and so much sea life. Brad and Cathy were both professional and friendly (and make great cookies)!
Thanks for the great review and thanks most of all for coming up and letting us get to meet and sail with you. It was such a pleasure to visit with your family. We hope we get to see you again.

Brad and Cathy made our first trip to San Juan Island a memorable one. It was the most positive rental experience we have ever had. The cottage was very comfortable, clean and beautifully decorated. My husband especially loved the gas grill and the huge TV screen. Our girls loved the porch swing and the fresh baked cookies. Our dog loved the huge backyard and the fact that we could vacation with him. And I loved it all! Finally, the biggest treat was spending an evening sailing with Brad and Cathy on their boat--an unforgettable experience for this recently transplanted family from Chicago!
Thank you so much for coming and staying with us. We loved our evening on the boat looking at seals, eagles, and actually sailing a little bit! When Dave gets his sailboat, now that he is tempted, come sail with us!

I would give this place a 5 star. It is a very cozy, lovely and peaceful two bed cottage. Owner paid attention to all possible details to make the cottage to comfortable place to stay. My whole family enjoyed this vacation so much including my dog, who had a huge yard to run to fetch tennis ball. Sailing on the owner's yacht is another incredible experience. Strongly recommend this place to all others.
Thank you for coming up and letting us meet you and your parents. I hope you all had a great time and you get to enjoy having your parents stay with you for a few more months.
Have a great summer!

I can't say enough great things about Brad and our experience at the SeaGlass Cottage. I have rented a bunch of properties throughout Washington and Oregon and this experience was the best by far. Brad was super attentive through email leading up to our arrival making sure all our needs were prepared for at the house. He and his rental were warm and welcoming without being intrusive. The sailing was the icing on the cake.
Cathy and I feel we are the true beneficiaries of your visit. We find ourselves fortunate for having had the opportunity to get to meet you guys and actually find some wind! Thanks for coming to the SeaGlass Cottage. I hope Spidey's knees heal well.

Brad and Cathy were the nicest and most friendliest people to deal with renting their cottage. We arrived the first day to warm baked cookies and an immaculate cleaned house. My family and I felt like we had won the lotto, this house is beautiful with all high end accessories... From the the comfy beds, the grill outside, to all the kitchen gadgets available to you. We loved it!! Would definitely recommend this rental to anyone!
