Aging, greying, slowing down after fifty years in Kenya: came to Lamu with fiammetta 15 years ago and were lucky enough to get this great location at the back of the village. We restored the existing ruin and in effect created our own little village building 3 more houses, staff quarters etc all secluded behind a tall coral wall with verdant sand dunes behind us. It is a most beautiful place and our dictum is ‘space, peace, tranquility’.

I (gillies) ran an antique business in Nairobi for 30 years before coming here, often moonlighting as a safari guide, also published a book now out of print on my time amongst the Maasai of Kenya and Tanzania (The Art of the Maasai). Fiammetta worked in Out of Africa and with fashion and jewelry design.
Now we consider ourselves extremely fortunate to have ended up in such a peaceful island as Lamu and we enjoy sharing our space with you, our guests.
