Your hosts, Frank and Anya, opened Shamarra Farm Stay in March 2013, to share their love of nature and their hospitality with visitors from around the world.
The couple lived in the eastern Caribbean for more than 20 years and moved to New Zealand to provide their three children with a more formal education.
Frank and Anya established a small farm north of Auckland, where they bred alpacas for seven years. After visiting the South Island they fell in love with Akaroa and found a beautiful property overlooking Akaroa Harbour. They purchased and established what is now Shamarra Alpaca Farm after relocating from Auckland with 70 alpacas. Shamarra Alpacas breed high quality alpacas whose fleece is processed into luxurious 100% dye free alpaca products, for sale in the Farm Shop.
Frank and Anya have built an architecturally-designed, contemporary home with breathtaking panoramic views of Akaroa Harbour. They extend an invitation to you to experience their private and luxurious retreat.
