About the owner: Brad and Melissa have been in Homer for 13 years. After years of working in the SE Alaskan bush as a fisheries biologist, Melissa decided to return to her culinary roots. She has worked as head chef at a variety of locations such as the famous Camp Denali, Cafe Cups, Land’s End and The Saltry, and on small expedition ships in Prince William Sound and Katmai NP. Currently, she a co-owner of Maura's Cafe and catering in Oldtown Homer. Melissa is gifted with a green thumb, which is immediately apparent as soon as you cross the footbridge. Brad J. graduated from The University of Alaska, Fairbanks with a BS in wildlife Biology in 1999. Since then, he has made a career as a naturalist guide, leading vessel-based brown bear viewing expeditions on the Katmai Coast, polar bear viewing trips in Canada, and panda trips in China.
