The vision of David Francis, The Paddy Island came into existence as a striking tropical playground for one very English family, who settled in Sri Lanka over a decade ago to explore life in paradise.

Stunned by the spectacular vistas of paddy fields so close to their base in Galle, it wasn’t long before an investment in nature expanded into the conceptualisation and development of the charming “Paddy House” – a homely cottage with wide views of Sri Lanka’s greenest pastures. Soon, “The Paddy Island” was created, a magnificent, inimitable destination, a glorious acre of beautifully manicured lawn, set and sheltered in the heart of a paddy field, an oasis within an oasis.
