Geoffrey Borrack is a practising Melbourne-based architect with a Masters degree in tropical architecture. His love of the tropics first led him to Bali more than 30 years ago on a family holiday. It was while staying in a private house in Ubud that he fell in love with the island of Bali and its rich and colorful culture. He and his family returned to Bali for short holidays over the following years and he quickly made it his goal to design and build his own villa home. Inspired by the lush tropical settings to which he had become accustomed, he set about finding a site that would become his home away from home. Villa Sungai is his second project in Ubud, Bali and is the place to which he and his family now return.

Set above the Campuan River, the roosters crow across the river in the morning and the lush manicured gardens and lawn make staying at Villa Sungai a dream. The staff have you feeling comfortable as soon as you set foot on the path to the house. The swimming pool is a welcome temperature early in the morning or late in the evening.
