Simon and I bought Updown Cottage in 2006 and spent the next 6 months refurbishing and setting it up as a holiday cottage to rent. The first piece of furniture we installed was a baby grand piano as Simon has been singing as a chorister since the age of 4, initially in his local church choir in Warwickshire, then in Worcester Cathedral from 7-18, followed by the National Youth Choir, Trinity College of Music in London and subsequently in various London based choirs and as a lay clerk at St Albans Cathedral. In his spare time he works as a business manager!
I trained and worked as a physiotherapist before combining looking after the children, organising charitable concerts, refurbishing several properties and looking after Updown.
We live full time in Hertfordshire but our hearts are in the west country!
We love eating out and consider it our duty to test (and re-test) every foodie destination before making recommendations to our guests!
