I, Karen De Rose-Porter, moved out to Utah in 1982 to go to college where I could ski and honestly, I skied lots and lots. Wow, had died I and gone to heaven. Coming from Montauk Point Long Island, I grew up on the water but always had a wonder-lust for the mountains of the west. When I made it to Utah and experienced the best skiing of my life, I knew I had found home.
My husband Fred grew up in Pennsylvania and moved to Utah in 1997. Utah had a unique appeal to him since he could live in a city, continue his aerospace career and still ski and mountain bike ride before or after a day at the office.
I tease him that he came to Utah to find me! Fred and I met on a private ski hut trip in the Selkirk Mountain Range of Canada. From the minute I saw him I knew my life was about to change. Fred and I have been married thirteen years and we have an adorable son. I guess the rest it yet to come.
