We built Banana Wind after traveling extensively in the Caribbean and contemplating having a place our own some day in the tropics. We fell in love with Vieques on our first visit, and bought the land that same year. It took four years to design and build Banana Wind. We live in Northern Virginia/DC metropolitan area. We originally contemplated a much different house, a Spanish Colonial. But over time evolved our thinking, with a little gentle persuasion from acclaimed Architect Stanley Hutchinson, to build a very modern home that is optimized for the views, captures the trade winds, and incorporates contemporary bold design elements and color. It's a big departure from our very traditional colonial home in Virginia. We also designed the house to be eco-friendly with solar panels, it's own rain collection and sistern system, concrete counters, and sustainable bamboo cabinetry. We hope that you love staying at Banana Wind as much as we do.

From check in to check out, it was a breeze staying at Banana Wind.
There was ample room for our group - of 2 couples - and the house amenities helped make us feel right at home. The kitchen is very well equipped and is a dream come true for the gourmet cook with a Wolf stovetop, oven and bbq.
