Deep in the heart of the African bush, camouflaged by a canopy of trees, lies a hidden haven of beauty and tranquillity called Marloth Kruger Lodges.
The thatched, fully-equipped lodges offer an unforgettable African bush experience with home from home comforts and good value for money.
Located in Marloth Park, a private nature reserve that shares a 17km common border along the Crocodile River with the world famous Kruger National Park. Kruger is best known for the big 5-lion, elephant, rhino, buffalo and leopard. Initially established over 100 years ago to protect the wildlife of South Africa. It sprawls over 2 million hectares.
The lodges are conveniently situated just a 5 min drive away from the Crocodile River where the big 5 can be viewed and the Crocodile Bridge entrance gate to Kruger is only 12km away.
Big 5 is set in a landscape of large rocks and indigenous trees and offers a private, relaxing bush experience.
Bush pig and Giraffe are warm and welcoming, comfortably furnished, decorated in an African bush style, fully-equipped and ideal for family holidays.
Zebra is a private, luxury lodge, furnished in an African colonial style, with attention to detail.
At the lodges, wake to a chorus of birds and enjoy a leisurely breakfast on the spacious verandas. You are likely to be visited by territorial warthogs and zebra. Watch in amusement as the warthogs get down on their knees to nibble the grass and admire the beauty of the zebra, each with it’s unique set of stripes.
Impala, zebra, warthogs, monkeys, baboons, kudu and giraffe have all been spotted around the lodges.
As they say in Marloth, you don’t need to go looking for animals, the animals come to you.
After breakfast, take a drive down to the Crocodile River and see if you can spot some of the big 5. Having marvelled at the beauty of nature, come home and cool off in the thatched splash pool with a view into the bush. Alternatively, enjoy a cold beer or a refreshing cup of tea in one of the comfortably furnished boma's.
For those needing a siesta, retire to the comfort of an air-conditioned bedroom for a quick snooze or be lulled to sleep with a good book on the hammock.
Make sure you get there first! Smart, our resident caretaker tells us that the monkeys sometimes take turns swinging each other on the hammocks.
Smart is an integral part of the Marloth Kruger Lodges experience and he is highly commended by our guests for his friendliness and helpfulness. He is available to service the lodges at an additional fee.
In the evening, conclude a memorable day with a braai and let the beauty of the African sky work its magic on you.
