Welcome to La Vieille Etable, our holiday home since 2014 and our full-time home since 2016 We are both Armed Forces veterans having a combined 30 year’s service in the RAF between us. Both qualified military air traffic controllers, our eyes met over the radar screen in in 2010 and we married in December 2014.

Following our retirement from the RAF, Lindsay took a ‘normal’ job, and Mark turned his hand to property development, but as every visit to Dordogne came to an end, we would both spend much of the journey back to the UK moaning that we didn’t want to leave. On the drive back in September 2015, Mark finally threatened to get his calculator out. The calculator led to extensive spreadsheets and due diligence. Just over 6 months later, we made France our forever home.

The reason we bought a holiday home in the first place was due to our own holiday experiences. We became fed up saving hard and paying a sizeable sum for a holiday only to find that life was far less comfortable than in our own home. We were fed up with ‘double’ beds that turned out to be Austrian twins. We were frustrated when we started wishing that the holiday was over due to waking up with terrible back aches. We could only laugh when arriving at a property that ‘had a TV’ only to find that the owner had not seen fit to provide an aerial or a plug.

We have set up our holiday home with all of our own irritations in mind, to try and ensure that you have the kind of holiday that we always wanted. And as air traffic controllers and proud veterans, we are pleased to offer discounted rates to all GATCO members and Armed Forces personnel, both current and veterans respectively.
