I have lived in Placencia since 1985, operating Coconut Cottage since 1994. The original cottage was built in 1994 to accommodate my late husbands fly fishing clients. Joel was a world renowned fly-fishing guide who died in 1996.
The original Coconut Cottage left with Hurricane Iris in October of 2001. The new cottages were rebuilt and I reopened for business in March 2002. There is just one for rent as I live in the other with my 3 cats, Amelia Peabody, Jr, her sister Fifi, and her son Baby Beluga.
Although there have been many changes in Placencia over the years I am feel that it is my home and am rooted here and closely connected to my Belizean family, the Westbys.
Living on the premises creates a safe environment for my guests.
I invite you to come visit and enjoy beautiful Placencia Village.
Left on May 19, 2011 for a stay in December 2009
I am a 3 time repeat guest at the Coconut Cottage. I have traveled extensively and stayed in various types of lodging but the Coconut Cottage is the one I keep returning to. The reasons are endless but to name a few:
The perfect location.
The coziness of the cottage.
The view from the porch.
The outstanding hospitality and friendliness from Kay.
The people of Placencia Village.
