I have been visiting the Smokies since before I can remember and it has always had a special place in my heart and has always been home to me. Mason and I bought the cabin in 2005 and have been making improvements since Hunker Down has been established. We took it off of a commercial rental program in July 2010 and spent a year upgrading and improving the cabin by adding the Mountain Room, updating the kitchen appliances, adding a full size washer/dryer, replacing the water system and replacing the upstairs exterior wood.
