Myself and my wife live in New York. We wanted a property filled with history, a house with a soul - we have always loved charming old mansions - and not 'just' a secondary holiday home.
We were completely enchanted and fell for Cambaras which is like a romantic little chateau with sensual frescoes on the ceilings, lavender blue Provencale shutters, trompe l'oeil facade and entertainment terrace. Nothing we had seen until then came anywhere near it.
The second criteria was that our children, 18 and 23, would warm to it - and they did! It is very much a party house, close to everything (beaches / mountains / lake/great restaurants/shops / supermarkets), walking distance to a lively village brimming with festivals and parties.
A large pool for swimming lengths was a must.
Our first guests were in awe with the place and it's exceptional charm.
Finally we were warmly welcomed by the Tourrettes municipality - Cambaras is mentioned as a historical landmark in its brochure.
