We purchased our FL condos in September 2011 and spent a lot of efforts, time and money to renovate and redecorate both of them to be attractive to the people who want to spend their vacations in our condos.
On June 17, 2014 we closed on private 3bdr/1bthr house in south Venice, SW FL which we converted to vacation rental house ("Neptune House"). So, we now own 3 bed/1 bath, 1,144 square feet centrally air-conditioned house (CBS construction) which could be rented @$2,900/month including taxes during the winter season (or it could be rented for 3 or more months in 'high season' at discounted price of $2,800/month) plus $110 cleaning fee (or clean yourself before the departure and pay only $50 inspection/inventory taking fee).
The house is located in SOUTH VENICE community (chartered in 1952) at the address: 4764 Neptune Road, Venice FL 34293. For nonsmoking seniors I could decrease the usual $500 security deposit to $200.
The outside and inside photos of the house (before we purchased it partially furnished) you can see here: http://www.zillow.com/homedetails/4764-Neptune-Rd-Venice-FL-34293/47576781_zpid/

Quiet street, nicely located. Enjoy all the Gulf area beaches, golfing, shopping/dining. Just a short drive to downtown Venice Ave.
When we were in Venice (we live in Kenosha, WI) at the end of June we closed on the house, made the 3-rd bedroom out of extra room and purchased some furniture and other things necessary to have in vacation rental house. We also thoroughly cleaned freshly painted house and decorated it with nice pictures. Now this house has:
- Queen bed with night stand, table lamp and chest of drawers in the master bedroom,
- Two Twin beds, one night stand with table lamp and chest of drawers in the second bedroom,
- King bed with 2 night stands and 2 chest of drawers in the third bedroom.
The family room has sofa, large chest of drawers with a collection of VHS movie tapes, books, etc., two reclining Lazy-Boy chairs, two side tables with matching table lamps, desk with table lamp (we will add computer, monitor and printer), black leather office chair and two ottomans. We will buy new plasma TV, DVD and VCR for this room.
The kitchen-dining room has everything necessary for vacation rental house. With plenty of dishes, pots and pans, utensils, etc.
There is separate laundry room with new front-load washer and older drier, shower stall, sink and water heater. This small room is reachable out of the 3rd bedroom.
The screened porch in the back of the house has outdoor furniture. There is a carport by the side of the house.

Discover a secluded, uncrowded private beach a couple of miles away. You can happily split your family time together between the Gulf, local points of interest and the house. An unbeatable location spoils you with options though, for sunsets, you can't beat the Venice Pier (also great for the best fishing), spectacular beach and famous music venue - popular Sharky's oceanfront Tiki bar & restaurant, with live music. Both are within a few minutes' drive. Enjoy a beautiful sunset over the ocean, a stroll on the beach, build your shark teeth and shell collection. It's a totally different Florida!
We are not far away from the Venice Island's public golf course & tennis courts - & short drive to 5 challenging public and semi-private golf courses.
Neptune house is in proximity to historic downtown district filled with Northern Italian architecture, charming boutiques, antique stores, first-rate restaurants & Venice Theater, free beach yoga classes. After beach time, relax at the comfort of the cozy home with HDTV, VCR, book and VHS movie tapes collection; and favorite family board games. This is an extremely quiet family-friendly residential area - you will sleep well! Nice bungalow on a large lot, with a few palm trees and plants by the house. Located on a quiet residential street you'll feel far removed from a noisy hw. 41 area, yet are still so close to everything that matters. Just a few blocks to the Gulf Shore and Intracoastal Waterway with free parking and ferry to the private beach and very close as well to the downtown Venice. Explore the home's neighborhood and surrounding excitement on Google Maps: 4764 Neptune Rd., Venice, FL.
The house was recently painted inside, and we purchased new pillow-top King, Queen and two Twin beds (they set far apart with a night table with a lamp in between). Neptune House is very clean, tastefully decorated and furnished. Keep your cool with central air conditioning and ceiling fans throughout. A separate laundry wash basin is ideal for washing off sandy shoes or bathing suits. Heating is available for cooler winter night. Wireless Internet (at additional cost of $49/month) will keep laptop users constantly connected to the world outside - though you might soon decide to ignore it completely. Rent bikes nearby and explore the area at a slower pace.
The kitchen has a sitting area with a table and a few chairs. Kitchen is well-stocked with ample cooking/dining equipment. Here you'll find cookware, dishes, utensils, glasses, caps, and anything else you might need to cook up a homemade feast. Or, if you've decided to dine out during this vacation, just use the microwave to reheat the scrumptious leftovers, the coffeemaker to get the gang up and out in the morning. Oh – and don't forget the blender for those frozen concoctions that taste so good when sipped after a busy day at the beach! There is a large inviting living room. A master bath and laundry room are kept shiny clean.
The best part of the Neptune House may just be the bedrooms, where everyone is certain to get a great night's sleep (on comfortable pillow-top mattresses) throughout the vacation. Nothing is more important, and you'll find each of these rooms beautifully decorated and comfortable. We provide all linens, as well as towels. Roomy storage and wall closets, found in every bedroom, are very convenient. No matter how long your stay it's always nice to fully unpack. But pack light and count on finding everything waiting for you here! Lawn maintenance included. Owners will pay up to $100/month for electric. Screened and fully shaded, cozy lanai has patio seating and an outside dining table, plus two heavy-duty reclining patio chairs. Carport is available for parking your car by the house.
The house has front-load washer (new) and dryer (older one) for your use, as well as extra supplies of so many things you may need. Our house is spotlessly maintained, and well equipped. You'll feel right at home here and will love your time at Neptune House. In total, six guests canl find vacation happiness under the roof of Neptune House. And we think that once you spend some time in Venice, you'll be back the first chance you get! Come explore our Gulf paradise!

Amenities are close by. The Neptune House is minutes from the beach and shopping. All major stores are situated mostly on Jacaranda Blvd. (10-15 min drive from the house).
The beaches are in proximity. Private beach reachable by community's ferry is only a few minutes away and is the best place to look for the fossilized shark teeth (see on u-tube "Day at Venice Beach: Shark Tooth Capital of the World" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hIU8Nsos3JY). Depending on the bordering body of water (Venice Beach, FL, for instance. WATCH previous video), there are certain beaches where shark teeth wash ashore and are regarded every bit the beach treasure as seashells.
Manasota public beach with bathroom/shower facilities is in 10 min. drive from the house. The famous Siesta Key beach in Sarasota is only 30 minutes away and there are 6 or so other great beaches in between. One of our favorites is the Gasparilla Island with its beautiful views and secluded beaches. Please note: small island airport has a fantastic diner with the best omelets & Cuban sandwiches in town!
Activities and Attractions: Venice is an historic charming town with a mix of upscale shops open air cafes, antique shops, museums, boutiques, fine restaurants with nightly entertainment, and a Playhouse theater. Venice is a boaters dream, w/direct access to both the ocean and the intercostal waterway. Venice is 10 miles south of Sarasota, 1 hour from Busch Gardens in Tampa, and 2 hours from Disney World in Orlando. Jacaranda West Country Club has seasonal memberships available for golf and tennis. We were in a hurry leaving the house when we were catching our flight to Chicago, O'Hare out of Ft. Myers and didn't have time to make any new pictures, sorry. But we are coming to Venice on Dec.17, and we will purchase a couple of TVs, then will make photos of all the updated rooms. We will have TV service (either cable or dish - we will decide later). If you would like to have internet service in the house, then it will be additional charge of $49/month.
We left a key from the house to our neighbors who are watching the house and mow the lawn. The house neighboring ours is popular vacation rental house with a pool and Jacuzzi advertised on HomeAway (it is successfully rented each week in summer and it is reserved already for the winter). The other house neighboring ours belongs to a Canadian couple, who stays in Venice from October to April and the other neighbors are taking care of the property, mow the lawn, etc.
South Venice neighborhood is very popular among vacationers and 'snowbirds'.
SOUTH VENICE is adjacent to ENGLEWOOD and you can also use the beach on Manasota Key barrier island - beautiful Manasota Beach with bathrooms and showers facility. It takes about 10 min from the house to reach this place.

Both our condos and the private house are very well equipped and furnished. We are selling now both of our condos FURNISHED as FOR SALE BY OWNERS on ZILLOW.COM.
- Englewood condo (2bdr/2bthr with 2 car garage) in beautiful coastal community on the shore of Lemon Bay (Gulf) @$120,000 as TURNKEY.
- Fort Myers condo (3+bdr/2.5 bthr with private fenced and paved front yard) @$190,000.
Englewood condo was only rented during the last three winter seasons - many retired Canadians and North Americans are trying to escape cold snowy season. The other time of the year is - "slow", when families only want to travel to FL for a week. But the HOA rules of two communities (where the condos are located) prohibit very short (like for a week) rentals. Because of such strict community rules we only could "recuperate" the annual payments for the condos (maintenance, etc.), no profit at all, only a lot of investments (occasional repairs, some remodeling, etc.) We didn't suspect about the "local US-mentality" of vacationing mostly for a week at a time during summer and fall in FL.
Sometimes I think it is unfortunately that our properties are not somewhere in the south of Spain (Costa-del-Sol) or France regions, by the sea resorts. In Europe people have 1 month vacations (nobody in their "right mind" travel for vacation for less than at least 2 weeks). As I remember, even living in USSR we used to have 1 month paid vacations. It was not so-o-o bad to live there, until "perestroika" (change of the system) happened, when all structures of our society abruptly were destroyed when Soviet Union in the 90s was restructured with the help of more than 1000 American "economic advisers", who made the decision to "break" our currency (rubles) and in result all the savings of my parents and most of the population became non existent (reduced in value to a fraction of a %). But the "approved" people from the "cream" of the society could get away with all the savings intact by using their connections and transferred all their (and "others" savings) into privatizing all Russian oil, gas, electro stations, you name it - everything! So we call all these Russian billionaires-oligarchs "prihvatizatory" or "New Russians" (those persons who grabbed the state property for themselves during the 'wild bandit capitalism' of the 90s). The Russian Connection group on Linkedin (online site for professionals in ENGLISH), where I am a member, discussed those times (and "who is to blame") in "Patriotism and Depardieu" and other discussions in Russian Forum, Russian Connection, etc.. All discussions there are mostly in English.
I was participating in different discussions on Linkedin, and "Voice of Russia" and Russian radio talk show "Springtime in Moscow" (in English) i-netradio.com recently noticed my postings and contacted me, asking to give interviews.
If you would like to read my and my husband's Aleksandr Nilov and others recent interviews to the "Voice of Russia", you can click on the link ( http://english.ruvr.ru/expats-8/ , http://english.ruvr.ru/expats-6/ ), forwarded to me by Sarah Neary (journalist for "Voice of Russia" in Moscow). This was a big project of interviewing Americans who lived in Russia for more than 10 years and Russians who lived in America for more than 10 years. They expressed interesting opinions about both countries (in comparison), the differences in their traditions, cultures and way of life.
There are many "Soviet's" expats living in SW Florida, Fort Myers area (I have a few Russian, Ukrainian, Belorussian and even Bulgarian friends among them, who are helping us to manage our two vacation rental properties if the need arises).
We live in Kenosha, WI in private house not far from Lake Michigan. Our teenage sons (15 & 16.5 y.o. now) created in 2011 (our starting year) a website for our small business: WWW.RENTFLORIDA.TK. If you like our website, you can SPREAD THE WORD about boys' extraordinary abilities (they accept work orders to make websites for people or their businesses at a very low starting price of US$150). Evan made his first website at 12 y.o - WWW.PLANTSALE.TK as a tool to sell our perennial plants/flowers from our backyard in Kenosha. He advertised this website on Craigslist and we sold many plants at a low price. People came from as far as 2 hours drive from us (from Chicago area and Milwaukee area). Evan obviously has a talent of a businessmen since the young age!
Younger Daniel is talented student (with very high IQ). He went through the program for the Gifted kids while in elementary school. Once he won competition there in 5th grade by remembering 75 digits after the point in Pi number: 3.141592653589793238462643383279502884197169399375105820974944592307816406286... He has fantastic memory. He is training in Fencing and Basketball now. A couple of years ago he purchased computer parts through internet and assembled for himself dual core very fast computer with tremendous memory. Recently he did the same for his older brother Evan (but charged him $60 for labor - what a businessman! :)
Our boys, beside English, can speak and read Russian Language, but barely can write in Russian (we are to blame, of cause). They are very busy with school work, sports (both sons were exposed for 4 years to different activities: gymnastics, figure skating, ballet/Daniel, art painting, ceramic making, etc.).
I am full time wife and mom, drive boys to all the activities, orchestra rehearsals, housekeeper, tax preparer, communicating in the groups on Linkedin, with renters in FL, making all the contracts/Leases, finding professionals to repair something if the need arises, etc.- like "Cinderella" or "Figaro tut - Figaro tam"...
Our sons are taking lessons in piano-accordion (or sometimes in piano) from the teacher/friend who comes to us twice a week since 2006. In schools both our sons play in School Symphony Orchestras, Daniel (9th grade) takes Violin lessons and he also is a member of the School String Quartet, Evan (10th grade of Lakeview Technology Academy in Kenosha) takes Viola lessons. I'm also learning to play accordion and can play a few simple songs. We have 3 accordions at home :) Both boys already can play complicated music (including beautiful Italian and French music in minor keys...) While in 5th grade Daniel played also Clarinet and participated in Roosevelt elementary school band.
Our phone # is 262-643-5734. We speak Russian and English, also I know Esperanto language (and was teaching it some time while living in Moscow); my husband speaks in addition French (he participates in French meetup group in Kenosha once a month and he was working for 2 years in Algeria's oil institute of Boumerdes teaching physics in French to the students in his younger years) and some German, also he studied 1 year Italian while in Moscow (in 1991), plus we could understand many Eastern European languages.
I manage myself our two condos and the house from my Kenosha's home (through the network of people who immigrated from the republics of former USSR: Russians, Ukrainians, even Bulgarian - and we communicate by using Russian). When we come twice a year to Ft. Myers, we call our "international" friends and invite them for a pot-luck dinner at our spacious townhome there. We communicate remembering always our past life in the Soviet Union, non-existing country anymore...
Best Regards - Lyudmila/Milla and Aleksandr/Alex.

Condo was immaculate and nicely decorated. Close to shopping and beaches. Pool, tennis courts, clubhouse, grounds were well taken care of. Neighbours were friendly. Owners were very nice, helpful, and easy to reach at all times. There are a few stairs to climb to get to the front door since the condo sits above your garage. This was not a problem for us but it might be for someone with hip or …
