I am a native Virginian & grew up in SW Virginia. I graduated from VA Tech in March of 1972 & married my wife Linda in September of that year. My wife & I have 6 children & 12 grandchildren. I started working for the Virginia State parks as a seasonal employee in 1971. In June of 1973 I was hired as a full time employee with VA State Parks & have worked across the state during my career. I rose through the ranks & was a park manager from 1983 to 1996. In 1996 I was promoted to District Manager & was responsible for the operation of 5 state parks is SW Virginia. Since my retirement in January 2010 I spent a lot of my time renovating rental properties my wife & I own & also renovating our home. I enjoy fishing, traveling with my wife, wood working, & children/grandchildren. I belong to Royal Oak Presbyterian Church & several civic organizations, such as Rotary, Chamber of Commerce, & I am the current President of the Friends of Hungry Mother State Park.
