The farm, named Maridiana, has been running since 1983, when the Berna family decided to leave the congested city of Rome for a more rewarding life in the countryside of Umbria.
Maridiana was one of the first agrotourism to be accredited in Umbria and in 2010 was certified 4 "spighe" from the Umbria Regional Authority, in a classification from 1 to 5. Maridiana is also the first and largest alpaca farm in Italy.
