We are a retired couple. We bought this condo to escape the cold northern winters and enjoy the beautiful tropical location. We are so happy we made this decision. We have fallen in love with St Croix, the people, the culture, the architecture and most of all the beautiful beaches. We love St. Croix because it is the "quiet Virgin Island". Not as many tourists or cruise ships visit St. Croix so it has remained considerably less crowded than St. Thomas or St. John. Driving around is easy and finding an almost deserted beach is the rule. You don't need a passport to visit St. Croix but you feel like you have traveled to an exotic location. On the other hand St. Croix is a US Territory and the currancy, shopping, language and customs are just like the continental US. We feel very safe and comfortable on St. Croix.
