As owner of Villa Palma I grew up between Hvar Island and Split. Although in recent years I have embarked upon a career at sea navigating cruise liners, working as Chief Officer for Cunard and P&O Cruises, the majority of my family and relatives still live in Sucuraj. They are active in the fishing community and the production of wine, olive oil and honey and will be able to provide you with invaluable first hand insight and advice about the town and area.
During my time at sea I have met my wife, who is half English, half Italian. For several years she has worked within the hospitality industry more specifically in events management. During our holidays we enjoy spending time with our family and friends both on the island of Hvar and Taormina, Sicily.
Our holidays in Sucuraj are characterized by leisurely days on the local beach which is only a stone’s throw away, discovering by scooter / boat the other beautiful beaches and sights that the island of Hvar has to offer and in the evenings enjoying barbecued fish and local wine in the peace and tranquillity of Villa Palma’s garden.
The estate on which Villa Palma lies has been in my family for several generations and was used only as agricultural land; olives, vines and fruit trees. In 2005 I embarked upon a new project; designing and building a home from home on this land that my family and my guests could enjoy. Villa Palma was completed last year (2010)- a labour of love that has seen the first hand involvement of myself and my family. For example, stone by stone, my father recreated the traditional stone walls that delimitate the property. When possible I spent the majority of my holidays project managing this build, ensuring that only the best materials, finishings and contractors were selected. Today Villa Palma is truly a unique property – positioned at the highest point in town overlooking the marina and the lush green countryside all around.
