The rear of the Edwardian homestead is available and very private. It has direct access to the car park, an ensuite and second toilet & basin. The main bedroom offers one queen size bed with basic kitchen facilities (small microwave, fridge, jug, toaster). The second bedroom offers one queen and one single bed. Both rooms have a television and access to free wifi.

The area is very suitable for a family of 5 or 2 couples interested in a farm stay type short stay. The property consists of 100 acres; 15 acres of vines and the remainder is grazed by sheep. A majestic lake used for irrigation exists along the creek and koalas often roam through the manna gums.

The cellar door has been placed in the end of one of the original farm sheds and was part of the Winery. It is open most days & offers home made cakes, Mocopan Bruno Rossi espresso coffee, Tea Blossom Teas and numerous local produce including a range of local wines. Pierrepoint Cellar Door has a north easterly aspect capturing the sunshine and overlooking the numerous breeds of poultry wandering amongst the vines.

To the south of the homestead, Mt Napier appears on the horizon beyond the Muddy Creek valley and productive farming land.

The Tarrington area is a picturesque, undulating landscape. The township named as Hochkirk by its German founders in 1853, changed its name to Tarrington in 1916 due to world events at the time. It has maintained a strong and proud German heritage. The town boasts one of the best cafes/restaurants in the district Café Catalpa, is family owned and operated and is only 4km from “Pierrepoint”.

Guest Access

Besides the rear of the house, guests are welcome to wander around the garden, farm and vineyard (after sterilising the soles of their shoes!) including the cellar door.

Interaction with Guests - On an as needs basis.

The Neighbourhood - I love the diversity of the Western District and the fact that it is a one hour drive to the western end of the Great Ocean Road in Warrnambool, Port Fairy or Portland on the coast, Halls Gap in the heart of the Grampians mountain range or Mt Gambier and the blue lake in South Australia. Tarrington is in the heart of the Kanawinka Global Geopark.

Getting around - An extensive network of buses exists to & from Hamilton including a town service. Sharp Aviation fly to & from both Hamilton & Portland.
he B & B is part of our home so we are around to help with any queries you may have about the property or surrounding areas.
