Of all the places that tug my heart, this is the most wonderful. The breezes sing soft songs here as they come off the Pacific. The ocean is warm and caressing here. I grew up swimming in the ocean inlet that can be viewed from my patio. This island is a place of superlatives:
Mauna Kea and astronomy nights, Kilauea and the "island builder" lava flows. Folklore tells us this part of the island was the landing place of Spanish galleons, centuries before Captain Cook, of heiaus (Hawaiian temples) built to resemble the ruins of the Inca, of warm and lush swimming spots. Come to Kapoho and feel the "mana" (spiritual power) of this place.
