Umberto and Alvina are Australians who purchased Podere (farm) Podernuovo in 2002 after a 5 week holiday in the local area. The podere is 8 hectares and had been derelict for more than 30 years, the houses dilapidated and the land completely overgrown into the canopy of many of the trees. We have since restored the three houses with the main farmhouse, the chestnut drying house (Il Seccatoio) and the original farm homestead (Casa Vecchia) being rebuilt using the original stone, hand made roof tiles and chestnut beams, maintaining the rustic style.

The land has been cleared and a vineyard and an olive grove planted to add to the original chestnut, cherry, hazlenut and walnut trees that are once again producing fruit.

We want to make your stay a memorable one and allow you to sample the Tuscan lifestyle. Apart from suggestions on places to visit, eat and drink, we also provide fresh vegetables in season from the kitchen garden, eggs and our own olive oil and wine. Enjoy.
