Maggie fell in love with this cabin before we purchased our first North Carolina home in Fairview. The uniqueness of the property, being in the national forest, with the nearness of the creek, was completely irresistible. Western North Carolina has some of the richest natural areas, from the mountains, to the forests, to the streams. Fortunately, large areas have been preserved for the future as national forests. Our cabin is within this National Forest. This means that you are surrounded by that majestic forest - a pocket of habitation within the beauty of nature. Western North Carolina enjoys one of the highest levels of biodiversity in North America. Being the South with altitude, we appreciate the opportunity to see so much different wildlife without having to do much more than sit out on the porch! We actually came to Burnsville for the first time in February, in a snowstorm. The natural beauty of the mountains, the snow, and the sky touched our hearts.
