I, Philip Marchand and my wife Jocelyn are the new owners of the John Edwards House as of October 2012. My mother Peg Femino Camarda bought this house in 2004 and soon after started using it as a vacation rental to supplement her Bed and Breakfast that she ran next door. She opened The Henry Derby House bed and breakfast in 2001 in the house we grew up in after my sister and I moved out. My mother had a passion for business ventures and a joy for life like no one else. She put everything she had into growing her businesses and maintaining these two properties, and loved every minute of it. A lifelong Salem resident, my mother Peg had plenty of stories to share with guests at the B&B and travelers from all over loved hearing them. Although she worked harder than most people I know it never seemed like work for her, as she was always happy doing it. My grandfather's motto that he passed on to her was 'every day is a holiday' and she truly lived by those words. My mom Peg passed away on Sep 5, 2012 at age 56 after a brief battle with cancer. My wife Jocelyn and I have vowed to carry on my mother's dream and run her businesses as she had hoped to do for many more years. Although sooner than expected, we are excited at the opportunity of taking over the B&B as well as the John Edwards House vacation rental. I am a full-time letter carrier at the Salem Post Office and have been employed there for 10 years. Also a life long Salem resident I grew up in the home that is currently the B&B and lived there until I was 22. I delivered newspapers as a boy, pizza in college, and now the mail in Salem, so I have an intricate knowledge of the city. I love living in Salem and plan on staying here as long as possible.
