La Mayur was founded in 2012 by two intrepid global travelers with an insatiable taste for adventure and who are committed to the conservation and preservation of Utila. We owe our gratitude to a proud Utilan, Shelby McNab whose support and guidance helped grow our inspiration into La Mayur. Mayur in Sanskrit means “Peacock” whose exotic beauty captured our minds on our very first visit to Utila, hence the name La Mayur. The cottage’s wooden architecture was completed by a dedicated team of local craftsmen whose work is recommendable. We believe in responsible tourism and employ all the support, material and staff from the island.
