Coming to visit Copán Ruins was a dream come true, first stirred in me by a magazine article during WW II. It stated that ancient ruins were found in Central America. WOW, at age eight that was a dream!

At age 50 an article in National Geographic (River of Ruinas) started me and my buddies on a whirl wind of adventure travels over 50 ancient sites by horse back, boat, private plane, canoe and on foot.

I started visiting Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras; all the way into Columbia. Now don't think I was just looking for a cheap place to stay and hibernate. Not so. It started out as an archeological exploration. Sounds simple. But then you toss in orchids, passion fruit, monkeys, Iguana (big), gold mines (deep and wet), rain forests (fantastic), diving off water falls, caves (for getting lost), learning to drink beer (no water) . . . oh, yeah, being blessed by San Semone (at least he drank half the rum after spitting the other half on me).
