Some friends and I rented this place to throw a low-key beachy party and it was perfect. It's a ways down the beach so you wont be in town, but the shore near the house is quieter because of that and its a straight shot back to Galveston if theres anything you want to do there. The house itself was clean, roomy, and well-stocked with kitchenware, bathroom towels, and places to sleep. And the porch is such a win....big, full of seating, and had a view of the Gulf right there. Theres also a grill area at ground level with an ice chest, picnic table, and outdoor shower so you can rinse off after you get back from swimming. I would highly recommend this place and will definitely be keeping it in mind if we ever decide to go back.
We stayed 4 days and 3 nights. We had 2 teenagers and a 5 year old. All three of the kids had a wonderful time as did the adults. There was plenty of room and the living room furniture was so comfortable that the boys decided not to camp out in the yard but to sleep on the furniture instead.
I loved that the beach was so close that we could easily walk there but yet we had a large yard for yard games and privacy. We come from a small town in Missouri and the last thing we want to do is spend our vacation with houses right up against each other. It also has a great fire pit and grill.
I noticed on the past review someone said the AC didn't work. It was 95 the entire time we were there and we slept under blankets at night. The AC was fine during our stay. I also loved the washer and dryer. I was able to do laundry before we left and didn't have near the mess when we got home...BIG PLUS!!
The owner was great to with suggestions on fishing and a wonderful Restaurant in town.
Galveston is just down the road so we were able to go to town and walk around the older parts of the town, the boys even ordered Pizza at 10 one night.
It sits next to a bird refuge which is an added nice touch. There is even a telescope that was great to look at the stars and across the ocean.
The home was clean and comfortable. Ready to go back and enjoy it again!!
This truly was the perfect spot for an authentic Galveston vacation. Its close to everything! we walked to the beach each day, we walked to the Pier, we walked to dinner, etc. Historic homes, the Strand and all the other attractions are just a short drive away. The home is quaint, clean, and comfortable. The butterfly garden was wonderful to relax in during the morning hours and fun in the evening with the lights and gentle music. The owner is delightful. He stopped by occasionally to make sure we had everything we needed for a relaxing and fun vacation. The home is stocked nicely with towels, kitchen ware, and everything one might forget when traveling. I give this cute house my full recommendation!
"Wonderfully decorated cottage that was charming."
Left on 06/26/2015 for a stay in June 2015
We enjoyed our weekday stay in Galveston and enjoyed coming back to this charming gem of a house. Tastefully furnished and decorated, it was nice to come back to after a long day on the Island.
It had more amenities than listed such as an iron and blender that I had brought. Only wish it had one larger pot with a lid, oh well, I suffered through it by having to go out to eat.
Only negative I found, and I see this through tout Galveston, you'll be in a nice neighborhood, and the next house is sketchy or abandoned, the next a beautiful, well-cared home.
My sorority sisters and I stayed here in February 2013 during the ice storm. The house is beautifully decorated! There were 10 of us and there was more than enough room! My family is working with the owner right NOW to get the house for our vacation August 2015! I highly recommend you stay here! Wonderful beach access! Maureen was incredible to work with!
