Additional Location Information

Located on the western-most tip of Martha's Vineyard, Aquinnah is a destination. One of 3 up-island towns, it is the part of Martha's Vineyard Obama's family visited to do their biking and it is where Jaqueline Kennedy Onassis made her Vineyard home. On every side -- north, south, east and west, Aquinnah is abutted by water -- there is sound, surf and pond. This is a town of light, where people come to watch the sunset and it is a town of color and history, where people visit clay cliffs and the historic lighthouse built in the late 1700s. When you venture one mile east from the house you'll reach Lobsterville Beach on the Sound; travel a mile and a half west to arrive at Philbin, an exclusive town surf beach. In Aquinnah you are among Wampanoag lands and people, the famous cliffs and world-class fishing spots. Nearby are undeveloped coastal lands, rolling hills, excellent restaurants, farm stands and markets, crafts and shops. The summer activities up-island include camps and programs for children, dance performances, yoga, writing retreats, surf lessons, kayaking, sunset sails, a weekly film festival with guest speakers, talks, classes, nature tours and hiking trails. Aquinnah is a place to get away from it all, it is a place to unwind.
