Paradiso is literally one step away from heaven. This small rustic country house is set on high grounds with magnificent views of the Sicilian countryside and the Iblean Mountains. On the one side it is within walking distance from a typical quiet rural village which has all amenities. On the other side it is seconds away from a huge forest with monumental pine trees.
This is a protected park which enjoys safe walking/rambling/cycling paths; picnic area; bbq area; animal reserve. Archaeological remains can be visited in the area. A lovely park for children to play in is found at the edge of the village.
The village is quaint, neat, well equipped with shops that provide all requirements. Health centre, bank, pharmacy, bread shop, mini-markets, green grocer shops, gelateria, restaurants, pizzeria, newspaper shop.... the perfect little Sicilian village is waiting to be discovered along with its honey seller, its torrone seller, the old churches and the ancient village at the very top of the hill with its panoramic views of the surrounding countryside.
The location allows forest walks and rambling, scenic drives, visits to historic churches, archaeological sites....
Giarratana is set in the Iblean Hills in the south eastern tip of Sicily, 1710 feet above sea level. This is a beautiful small village which enjoys gorgeous Mediterranean weather that is warm in summer, with heat peaking in August and getting especially cold between December and February.
This village has a long history which dates back to Greek times and in fact the first name of the original village was Greek.
Giarratana has only 3000+ inhabitants The village is renown for the production of the Sicilian sweet Torrone and for the production of exceptionally large onions which are celebrated through the Sacra della Cipolla in mid August.
Mainly rural in character, the village is dedicated to St Bartholomew The Apostle and the religious feast is celebrated on 24 August.
The village is a short drive (approximately 30 minutes) away from the baroque town of Modica which is especially well known for its baroque character, its art, its coffee shops, its chocolate, its ice creams. It is one of the key towns in which the famous Montalbano TV series was filmed.
The closest airport is situated in Comiso which is just over 1 hours' drive away. Ryanair have just introduced direct flights from London, Rome and Brussels to this destination.
If you fly to the airport of Catania, you may reach Giarratana by driving in approximately 2 hours' drive.
If you fly to the airport of the island of Malta, you can book a Virtu Ferries ferry trip from Malta to the port of Pozzallo which is approximately 45 minutes' drive away from Giarratana.TripAdvisor property ID 3181251...Read more

I must say that my weekend at Paradiso is best described as Bliss. The place is wonderful and very well kept...actually new..... the views are wonderful and the location is great as it is detached yet very close to the nearest village. You do require some form of transport, however the roads are very well kept and there was practically zero traffic when I was there.
Thank you for your review - so glad the experience offered happy memories...

Situated in a beautiful part of Sicily, very close to a beautiful nature park with good walking trails. The house is surrounded by olive trees and everywhere you go or sit down you have a nice panaroma infront of you.
The living standard is good. Really comfortable beds and a very cosy wooden stove for the colder nights. Clean and well equiped. I have never tasted better water in my life, it comes directly from the water source a couple of meters away from the house. Well worth a trip to the source to fill up your water bottles!
Sitting on the veranda looking out at the tranquil sicilian landscape really made my holiday! Great place to relax and a lot of things to explore around, especially the nature park and the lovely tiny village of Giarratana (where you can find fantastic sicilian home made foods!) Definetly recomend this place
So happy to hear you enjoyed your experience in this magical corner of Sicily.
“Closest to heaven you can get this side of the Mediterranean.”

Needed a couple of days away from work but I also wanted to get away from any sort of noise.
Driving into this part of Sicily already gives you a sense of entering a different world. I knew Sicily. I've been here before. But THIS part of the Island really is something else. Time really stands still. That's not to say that you cannot find 'some' hustle and bustle. You can. But you have to look for it.
The property itself is an absolute haven. A little gem in the middle of a valley with it's very own bosketto and breathtaking views. You can't but be inspired and recharged after spending time here.
It's NOT 5 star luxury. It's a 5 star natural relaxation spa with all the usual amenities you're used to back home!
The photos do not do it justice, actually. There is no way to 'see' the actual size of the property. Especially the interiors. But it's perfect. Trust me!
