Additional Location Information

Where is Kupu Kupu Cottages?
Nothing on Gili Trawangan is too far to walk by foot, although to circle the island might be an all-day adventure. Kupu Kupu is conveniently located approximately:

- 5 minutes by foot from Jetty/Harbour

- 5 minutes by foot to the night market and restaurants
- 5 minutes by foot to the beach

Renting a bicycle for the duration of your stay is an excellent option that allows you the freedom to explore the entire island at your leisure. Prices depend on your bargaining skills with the bike rental shops, but should be around 35,000 per day.

Kupu Kupu is just 2 or 3 minutes by horse cart (cidomo) from the main Gili T jetty. Prices to travel by horse cart usually depend on how far you want to go. There is a “fixed price” with the drivers, but you can always feel free to negotiate.GETTING TO KUPU KUPU COTTAGES
There are several options available to get from Bali to the Gilis.
From mainland Lombok, there are many different options which can be arranged independently, or through tour companies in Senggigi.

The fast boat services are a convenient and popular option, providing quick and easy transfers directly from Bali to the Gili Trawangan harbor. Most companies can arrange a pick up from your hotel in Bali, and either leave from Benoa Harbor (approximately 2,5 hours crossing) or Padang Bai Harbor (approximately 1 hour crossing.)
For those on a budget and with time to spare, the ferry boats, or “Pelnis” leave from Padang Bai Harbor almost hourly. The crossing time is approximately 4 hours, but can take much more. You will disembark in Lembar Harbor in the south of Lombok – so either bring your own transportation or plan for a long taxi ride up the West coast to Bangsal Harbor.
A quick flight from Bali to Lombok is a rather cheap and painless ordeal. Lombok’s new International Airport is located to the south of Lombok, so you will have to arrange a shuttle bus or a taxi to Bangsal Harbor.

Catch a taxi or bemo to Bangsal Harbour, on the north-west coast of Lombok, about 30 minutes drive from Senggigi.
Public outrigger boats depart regularly to all three islands (40 minutes to Gili T.) Please be aware that public boats leave when there are enough passengers to warrant the trip, so you may have to wait for a while. The best times are between 8 am and 4 pm.
For those who don’t want to wait, chartering a boat can be a good option, especially if you have a few people in your group. Prices will depend on the number of passengers and your bargaining skills, and don’t be surprised if your “private charter” picks up a few extra passengers for the ride!

Unfortunately Bangsal Harbor is plagued with dishonest touts and scam artists, but a smile and a little knowledge before hand can save you some trouble. When buying your ticket, go directly to the official ticket office on the front of the beach, where public ferry and charter boat prices are posted clearly. If you let anyone help you getting your luggage onto the boat, expect to pay for the service. Ignore people who tell you that there are no return public transfers, or that there are no basic amenities such as water, mosquito repellent or sunscreen on the Gilis, as all the island essentials you could need are readily available on all three islands.

Arriving in the tiny Trawangan jetty or on the beach, either walk, or get a horse carriage (Cidomo) to Kupu Kupu cottages. It is just after ”Rumah Kalua Villas” and before “Baleku” in case your driver doesn't know the place. The is very appealing option for hot hours of the day, or those with heavy luggage or suitcases on wheels, and an enchanting prelude to the island's laid – back life style.

If you want to walk from the main beach road, find D'Harbour Restaurant, nearby the main ticket office for the public boats. Next to D`Harbour is a Commonwealth Bank ATM and a small road next to it. Go up this small shaded road, and at the end of the road take a left. Then take your next right, keep walking about 100 meters (you will pass 3 crossroads and 1 T intersection) until you see the sign for Kupu Kupu on your right.
Welcome Home!
