Additional Location Information

The Old Town is one of the most evocative historical centres in Catalonia. It has features that are unique in Europe such as the Carolingian wall, an exceptionally well conserved Jewish quarter, and the grandeur of the Cathedral’s Gothic nave. We are 7 minutes walk away and to the station is 2 minutes if you fancy a trip to Barcelona for the day, or the beach of course.
Catch a passing Number L1 bus to the top of Montjuïc and roam around the castle, built to defend the city from attacks by the French. Take a picnic and photos. ‘Montjuïc’ means ‘Hill of the Jews’ and is the mountain overlooking Girona.
The Little tourist ‘Train’ (Trenet Gerió) leaves from The Stone Bridge morning and afternoon for 4 Euros and lasts 40 minutes. Children and your feet will love it and it’s a great way to take photos!
The romanesque 'Arab Baths' were built in 1194. They imitated the structure of the moslem baths which were in vogue at the time. The ancient baths became public property in 1929. They are open 7 days a week for an entry fee of 2 Euros.
Girona plays host to many festivals and celebrations throughout the year, and gives visitors and new inhabitants an idea of the Catalan culture and lifestyle. Sample festival fervour by watching this 'human castle' attempting to stagger up the cathedral steps.
If you are on holiday with children, their contentment will inevitably be a major part of your own. From outdoor swimming in Devesa Park to a sking lesson in The Pyrenees, we hope that our guide to children's entertainment will help to keep the kids happy.
