“Great and wonderful place to stay !” Everything was as beautiful as it was decribed by our travelling-agency (novasol). The house is in the middle of an olivetree-forest and it takes a 10-minutes-walk to the sea. The beach was amazing. What I truly enjoyed was that it was not very touristic though Gouves and analipsi weren't far away to have a place for shopping, car-rents or boat-trips to Santorini for example. The whole place was very calm and relaxing and only surrounded by a few other houses. You should keep in mind that the next supermarket is maybe a 15-30-Minutes-walk away or takes 5-Minutes-ride with the car. We had a car and so it wasn't a problem at all. The house had everything we needed. The bathrooms were clean, the rooms were very beautiful, the beds were comfortable, the kitchen had great and good working equipment, every room had an air-condition and there was enough space to hang around outside on the balcony or terrace. The whole place was filled with flowers what was really beautiful. Me and my family truly enjoyed our stay there.

Traditional Villa Close To The Beach
Simply lovely

First things first... I was nervous about booking this Villa. I had all sorts of concerns because it only had a small handful of reviews and I had to transfer payment into the owners foreign bank account which is something I have never done and I knew that by doing this I had no back up if it didn't actually exist!! The owner even offered a Skype call with me beforehand to put my mind at rest. The Villa is really well located being just a 15 minute or so drive from Heraklion airport. The owners Uncle patiently waited for us so that we could follow him to the property in our hire car - we never would have found it otherwise as it's quite tucked away. It is spacious, clean and with all the facilities you expect from a holiday home (apart from a tin opener - I am sure George the owner can easily rectify this). I thought it was excellent value for money. The air con was appreciated and all rooms have fans too. Don't make the mistake of opening the patio doors at dusk on the first night - we were bitten to pieces and learnt our lesson. The terrace and gardens are very well kept and very pretty. My son befriended a small ginger cat that visited every day and christened him "Nikos". It really is a very short walk (10 minutes down a quiet road) to what must be one of the nicest stretches of sandy beach in the area and the swimming was a joy. Even my toddler managed the walk there and back (he's two and 2 months). I loved the Cretan food and it was great for my vegetarian husband. There are a bunch of restaurants in the nearby resorts to choose from. The nicest meal we had was in Analipsi at Volkano. The Rainbow tavern on the main road is probably the closest to walk to. Everywhere we went was incredibly child friendly. We also visited the Skotino cave above Gouves which is a lovely short drive. Knossos is only half an hour away by car. The aquarium is great on a hot day. My little boy loved the land train that goes through all the coastal resorts. The supermarkets in the resorts are pretty expensive - there is a Lidl on the main road on the way to Malia. On departure day the owner let us stay in the Villa longer than we would have expected as our flight wasn't until the late afternoon. This was very nice of him and really helpful for us.
