About Granbury
Sitting around 40 miles southwest of Fort Worth, Granbury can be found in Hood County, Texas. There's a definite vintage twist to this historic town which was formed in 1887 with the building of one log house and a court room. That became the town's first limestone-tiled town square, which today still sits beneath a 19th century clock tower and was the first such square to find itself listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
The city was expanded in 1969 by the damming of the Brazos River and the formation of Lake Granbury. Flowing through the city, it has a man-made beach with 'real' imported sand at the Lakeside.
Granbury is famous for its cowboy association, especially Jesse James and David Crockett (whose descendants still live in the area today).
Culinary-wise Granbury, like most of Texas, celebrates BBQ: meat covered in molasses and served up with mash and greens.
