Additional Location Information
Hello, my name is Norm Goodfellow and my wife May and I have travelled with our children to various islands in the Caribbean, but we felt most at home on Grand Bahama Island. I have a contracting company in Ontario Canada and had been searching for the right property on which to build our vacation home. We choose the best beach on the island, and the 30 min drive from the city is perfect for seclusion and convienience.
Our favorite places in the Area:
- Diamond Sunrise
Our favorite restaurant, just ten-minutes away. They also deliver and provide Bone Fishing tours.
- Pier 1
If you go to Grand Bahamas do not miss this experience. Make a reservation for a balcony seat, to view the sharks below. The food here is good, the owner is very attentive and congenial.
- Fortune Hills Golf & Country Club
East Sunrise Highway P: (242) 373-2222 A challenging 9-hole course, popular with both locals, winter residents and visitors, Fortune Hills has the longest part 5 in The Bahamas (530 yards). A friendly clubhouse bar is open where you will feel right at home.
- Pinetree Stables
Horseback ride through wooded tails on a two-hour eco-adventure. The ultimate way to experience outdoor GBI. (242) 373-3600
- Biking Nature Tour
Easy 10- mile trail along the south shore of GBI along wetlands and through pine forest. Visit an inland blue hole and ruins of an early settlement (242) 373-2485
- Lucayan National Park
Nature trails and boardwalks lead to a variety of ecosystems. Two large caves are open to the public part of one of the largest underwater cave systems in the world.
- The Boiling Hole
It is called "The Boiling Hole" because when tide flows out to the sea, the water rushing from the cave-like area beneath the roadway bubbles on the surface. It could also be referred to as "The Whirlpool" because (as you might guess), when the tide flows inward, the water rushing into the cavern system creates a whirlpool and is definitely a sight to behold! This blue lagoon occurred naturally as the island itself was formed, and it is a testament to the cavernous geology of The Islands of The Bahamas. And, it is also one of the sites explored by Jacques Cousteau, who documented his findings. A wooden boardwalk, with a viewing deck and aluminum ladder for access to the water, has been provided.
- Lucayan National Park Kayak Nature & Cave Tour
Enjoy a full guided 90-minute tour with moderate paddling in a safe Eco-environment and no dangerous creatures. We use wide, stable, two-man kayaks, easy in and out with a third seat available for infants. The tour is suitable for all ages and beginners are also welcomed. There is ample time for swimming and beach combing. Afterward, relax and have lunch on a private, shady beach. A guided nature walk and visit to caves is also available.
- Open Ocean Dolphin Swim
Only at UNEXSO can you swim and interact with the dolphins in the open ocean environment. The dolphins will follow the boat into the open ocean (weather permitting) where you will enter the water and interact with the dolphins
