"UNFORGETTABLE" Geodesic Dome On 40 Private Acres W/Bubbling Hot Tub & Pond!
Grassy Creek, NC - Be prepared for a totally UNFORGETTABLE experience!! Set on 40+ acres among the rolling hills of Eastern Ashe County and close to Southwest Virginia, you will find this wonderfully handcrafted Buckminster Fuller design Geodesic 3/4 Dome. With over 300 square feet of windows, the home itself makes you feel like part of the surroundings. Solid cherry paneling, wormy chestnut cabinets, and wooden floors are just the beginning. An inside stairway leads to an enclosed observatory at the top of the dome; a perfectly romantic spot to view the stars above the canopy of trees. A deck surrounds half of the exterior of the dome and offers a nice sitting area for relaxing. Just out the kitchen door, a stone pathway leads to the patio, where swing, picnic table, and hot tub await!! Be sure to take some time to stroll around the property. Unforgettable is a tree-growing plantation as well as a working Frasier Fir Christmas tree farm and wildlife preserve, so numerous trails meander through the wooded and open areas. From the highest peaks, you might even catch a glimpse of Grandfather Mountain if it's a clear day. If not, the panoramic views are well worth the walk, and you're sure to enjoy just sitting by the scenic pond area with a cup of coffee or a good book. If you wish to venture out, the property is in close proximity to several landmarks in the area. The North Fork of the New River and Gale Winston's famous River House Gourmet Restaurant are only a couple of miles away. The confluence of the North and South Forks of the New River is about 6 miles away. Shatley Springs Restaurant is 5.5 miles away, and the Mount Rogers National Recreation Area is about 15 miles away via Highway 16N and VA Highway 58. If you're in for a day trip, you'll find directions at the home to Chateau Morrisette (fine dining, deli and winery). Check it out at . It is well worth the 1.5 hour drive north on the Blue Ridge Parkway, at Meadows of Dan, VA where you will also enjoy Mabry Mills. Pick up a Parkway Guide so you don't miss all the hidden treasures along the way! If the man is coming to fish, this is definitely THE PLACE. You are only one mile from Helton Creek Trout Stream, which is visited by fishermen from all over. In addition, this air conditioned home provides a fully equipped kitchen, Satellite TV, VCR, AM/FM Radio with C/D player, Washer/Dryer, and charcoal grill. The cabin is a perfect get away from it all! The setting was beautiful, private, and tranquil. The rental company was extremely helpful in arranging for our stay at the last minute. We appreciated your help Jennifer! We will be back soon for a longer stay. Thanks for a fun and memorable weekend.

it was pet friendly, kid friendly, and the little town near by was full of wonderful people. the area is gorgeous and the climate was amazing. the hot tub is outside and the view from it is perfect. also, the cabin is very unique in its design. there is a place nearby that rents canoes, its a little general store called new river general store. the people there were really great and even sent us a newspaper clipping from the nearby town paper. we were pictured in it because a photographer had snapped a picture of us canoing for an article they ran. She recognized us and mailed it, using the info she had from when we rented the canoe. what a great place to relax.

We just picked up the key in West Jefferson and headed for our 'mini' vacation.
The home was everything we expected and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It
was very funny the first time the shower was used upstairs......you had to
follow all instructions or someone could take a little shower in the kitchen. We
totally enjoyed the privacy and the nature around us. It was awesome! We've
missed vacation for the last couple of years, but this property will be on our
list in the future!

This was something very different. My husband, an engineer was fascinated by this geodesic dome. Every amenity was provided. The setting was secluded. We had the pond and surrounds to ourselves. Lovely views.

The home was unique. We felt like we were alone in the woods. It is completely open inside so it was great for a group of us who are close love to be together. Only problem was that some of the lighting didn't work. Otherwise we had no complaints.

If you are looking for a private getaway in a secluded, scenic location this
cabin is just what you need.
The property has a private pond, a beautiful scenic outlook just steps from
cabin and an outdoor hot tub. The trees behind the cabin have been
strategically trimmed so that you can look out at the mountains while
relaxing in the hot tub. There are also nicely maintained trails circling the
property and the neighboring xmas tree farms.
The cabin is itself a unique geodesic dome and has adequate appliances and
utilities. It is basically an open floor plan with a spiral staircase leading to the
loft style bedrooms. The loft is not actually divided into separate rooms,
there was just a folding divider, so that is something to keep in mind if you
are staying with kids.
Overall, I highly recommend this property and hope to stay again soon.
