Beautiful spacious apartments, spotlessly clean. Matteo was charming and responded to any need we had. Our 3 boys aged 13,12 and 9 spent hours in the pool and made great friendships with some of the other kids staying there. Griante is a great location on Como being very central and ideal for day excursions to Bellagio, Lugano, Bernina Express train through the alps to St. Moritz. Do hire a boat on the lake which our boys described as the "best fun". Also the gardens of the Villa Carlotta are a must. Lovely restaurants in Menaggio and a great gelateria on the main square. All in all we'd highly recommend both the location and the apartments - we'll be back.
You definitely need a car. The driveway entrance is tight and steep so you need to have your wits about you, however there is parking on a private road if you don't fancy taking on the driveway.

very nice small residence in a very quite place. Matteo picked up us at the entree of the village and he explained us how to go to the town by fuss and showed us where the supermarket are located. The best one was 3 minutes from the residence by fuss. The Lido (beach with pool and cafe) was at 15 minutes by fuss. We made several trip to Bellagio, etc...
We enjoyed very much our two days at Griante. One improvement to report: the Sauna facility needs renovation.
Lovely spacious apartment as a base to experience Lake Como

We were here before, loved it then, still do now. Very spacious apartment, with three good size bedrooms and two living areas. Lovely garden with pool. The manager is friendly and happy to help if necessary.

We booked this place for a week in august 2012 and were certainly not disappointed. We loved the location in a quiet area but with walking distance from shops and restaurants. The apartment itself was certainly ideal and accommodates all required facilities.
The pool was similarly good. This place is ideal for any one who wants to stay in green mountainous area and away from the noise and buzz of a busy city! But not too far from shops and restaurants.
The landlord was extremely helpful and accommodating.
We certainly had an amazing week and would love to go back again.
Peace, tranquility, and totally beautiful surroundings

Had a fantastic time in this huge modern villa. Ideal for family with 2 teenagers. Few reservations about the basement bedrooms but these were ideal in hot weather. Walk to the lake is easy (bit steep back up but not far). Lovely alimentari just around the corner ( 2 mins walk) for fresh bread and all the goodies you need (very friendly with non Italian speakers). Didn't have to use the car at all for the first 4 days! Local towns easily accessibly by bus and boat.
Wi Fi connection not great but that wasn't a bad thing (for the adults). Also found our universal european plug adaptors didn't always fit, so check the Italian requirements. And, don't take travellers cheques! Italian banks no longer accepting them. Would thoroughly recommend and we were sad to leave :(

We stayed in this apartment for a week and enjoyed ourselves thoroughly. The kids loved the pool and especially the jacuzzi. As the pool is around the corner we had no noise. The apartment is spacious and has all the amenities. Nice garden to sit in the sun or shade. The parking space on the compound is very narrow. We parked outside. The owner/manager was very service oriented and helpful. Only thing that didn't really work was the wifi, but in the end we got our money back. The kids went into the village to use the town's free wifi, so they were happy too.

Very good service and beautyfull home. Great environment, where the flowers smell lovely. The boat trips are very nice and cost little. This is the best way to travel to all the beautyfull villages allong the lake. Only using the bike I would not recommend. And there are no beaches, but we had à very nice swimming pool.
Quality accommodation which is professionally managed

This review is a bit late and apologies for that but hopefully still useful to those looking for a quality experience. The apartment was well maintained in a residential area and of very good quality with air conditioning which was a key criteria for us. Matteo (the owner) and his family were exceptional in their attention to detail which included guiding us to the apartment and helping with the unloading of the car. Great apartment, great pool, excellent open (and wide) garaging for the car, a superb quality shop nearby for key essentials and exceptional bread etc and great access to the lake. We (family of 3) highly rated the experience and would recommend this apartment.

We had a very nice week in the apartment. The facilities were excellent, nice pool, jacuzzi and sauna. The location is ideal to access the towns of the central lake area. We visited Villa Carlotta which is a short walk from the Residance and Villa Balbianello using the local bus to Lenno. We also visited the beautiful towns of Belaggio and Varenna. Finally I should add that Italian apartments (Julie and Barrie Webb) were very helpful in finding suitable accommodation and were very prompt in supplying details. The owner Matteo was very helpful and on hand whenever needed.
First rate service all round. We will definately return to Lake Como and the Griante Residence in the future.

Nice pool and jacuzzi. Was lovely having a table in the garden for meals and drinks, with a view over the lake. Was close to lots of restaurants and supermarket, although up a hill so not suitable for some people! Had a slight problem with a very noisy group of people, especially as the walls/floors between apartments did not seem very noise proof, although our complaint was dealt with very well. All in all was a very nice holiday.
A fabulous place we'll definitely re-visit (Apartment 8)

Me and my husband married in July 2011 and decided to visit Lake Como for our honeymoon with out 20 month old daughter in august. The apartment was immaculate and contained everything we needed, including plenty of space and the grounds were beautifully kept with a lovely pool, barbecue and covered car parking space all safely secured behind electric gates. From apartment 8 there are lovely views over the mountains and the lake and it is only a short walk down to the lakeside where there are restaurants and a small selection of shops. The ferry port takes you to the towns of Bellagio, Menaggio and Verena very easily and all are worth a visit, especially Bellagio. It is the most beautiful part of the world I have ever visited and we are planning to return next summer, bringing additional family members with us.
Beautiful apartment in a beautiful friendly village

These new apartments have been finished to a very high standard. The welcome by Matteo was warm and informative. The level of equipment in the spacious apartment gave us everything we needed for our stay. The apartments are set in a village and we felt most welcome by the local residents. The location is convenient for many of the towns one would want to visit and provides an excellent base.

Delighted to have booked and stayed at these apartments. Booking process was very easy and the check-in process was also very good.
The apartment was very spacious with excellent storage, great swimming pool and BBQ area. My only suggestion would be to increase the amount and range of equipment in the kitchen. Also the 2nd living room seemed to be rather a waste of space and personally I would have used the space to make each of the bedrooms ensuite. It may be worth investing in slightly better beds as we all found the matresses to be uncomfortable.
The location was excellent - we were delighted to be able to see the lake despite being back from the road and it was very easy to get to shops, restaurants and main sights of the area. Local amenities were good.
We loved the location of the apartments but did find the supermarkets expensive.

Once you have mentioned the location the restr falls into place. Great apartment, very clean, great faciliies, no fear of recommening it to your most discerning of friends. The only downside I would mention is the request to carry so much cash (balance of rent0 to the location and maybe not being able to pay your deposit by credit card. Banks certrainly charge excerssively for money orders in euros. But that is the only criticism. Superb in every way. Read more
Many thnanks for your feedback, glad you enjoyed your stay.
We now take cards so you can pay as you wish!
Hope to welcome you back some day soon.

Cadennabia Griante is a nice building with 8/9 spacious, new appartments, has a lovely garden and pool. Our appartment was for 6/8 persons and was very clean when we arrived and spacious. The appartments are up a hill, so a car is necesarry, although walking down takes only 10/15 min and there's a small supermarket close by. I would definitely go there again.
