Additional Location Information

Across the street from the municipal beach, sit with your toes in the sand and read and relax while looking at the bay. The beach features picnic shelters, league-approved volleyball courts and children's playground.

An artists community, Gulfport is known as a haven for working artists, art work and galleries. The artists' media include painting, sculpture, blown glass, pottery, crafts, clothing and industrial arts. Art Walk is the first Friday and third Saturday of each month. Set up along Beach Boulevard (Gulfport's main street), Art Walk features the work of local artists displayed and for sale.

Gulfport hosts some of the best restaurants along Florida's west coast. Grab breakfast at a terrific breakfast diner. Lunch across the street with fantastic pub food or walk up the block to get an authentic Chicago hotdog or brats--and don't forget the ice cream. Order a beer, a burger or wings at one of the beach bars. For dinner, stroll to one of the sit down restaurants offering exceptional Cuban food, Mediterranean cuisine, seafood, steak, pizza or Greek dishes. All are literally just around the corner.

Each Tuesday morning is Tuesday Market along Beach Boulevard. Wander among the vendors and choose fresh food and produce either for meals or snacks.

It's a short walk to the library, theatre and Gulfport Casino. The heart of Gulfport is the Gulfport Casino. A 1930s-era, art deco ballroom, the Casino hosts weddings, art shows, meetings and throughout the week dance lessons, including tango, Swing and Salsa.

While there is plenty to do in and around Gulfport, an unlimited range of activities and attractions are within a short distance of the pink house. You're within 30 minutes of the Tampa airport. St. Petersburg is 10 minutes away and close by are Busch Gardens, the Salvador Dali Museum, Mahaffey Theater, Ybor City, the Clearwater Marine Aquarium with Winter the dolphin (from the movie Dolphin Tale), Fort Desoto National Park, Madeira Beach, Indian Rocks, Treasure Island and Pass-A-Grille.

Walt Disney World and Universal Studios are a quick 90 minutes east. Cape Canaveral and the Kennedy Space Center are about three hours away on Florida's east coast.

Other activities in the area include swimming, kayaking, golf, shelling, museums, sailing, cycling, movies, boating, shopping, fishing and sight seeing.
