“Even better than expected” I stayed at this cottage for 11 nights. I felt so much at home that I did not want to leave, not even to go to the beach. The views are stunning. It is very private and quiet. I really liked the sound of the water fall in the gulch below. The cottage offers anything one can dream of... fully equipped kitchen, washer, dryer, towels, beach chairs, sun umbrellas, deck chairs, BBQ, outside showers, TV, DVD and a very fast and stable internet. Haiku town is only a few minutes by car (3 minutes to be precise) where you can find groceries, restaurants and a fitness centre (which offers weekly and daily passes for tourists). Paia town and beaches can easily be reached within 15 minutes, Makawao town is also around the corner. Barbara and Hank, the owners of this beautiful property, are very nice people and extremely helpful.

“Family Vacation Paradise” We had our second family vacation stay in the Haleakala Suite and loved it! Tom and Vicki's attention to detail made our vacation so easy and enjoyable. We love the beautiful surroundings, furnishings, and serene atmosphere away from the bustling tourist areas. Yet it's still only a short drive to the beach and excellent restaurants like Mama's Fish House and Hali'imaile General Store. We also spent mornings and evenings in making our own breakfasts and grilling dinners on the patio. The kitchen had everything we needed to make nice home-cooked meals. We made good use of the beach supplies like the cooler, beach towels, and sand bucket. :) Our time at Bamboo Valley Inn was cherished time - especially our daughter getting to visit Tom and Vicki's horse each morning. We're sure this will be a fond memory for her, and we plan to visit again as often as we can. Don't miss out on this gem of a vacation home!

“Serenity in Maui” My husband and I spent eight days at this lovely property, and quite simply, was the best house rental, and the best vacation we have ever taken. There are not enough words to tell you how beautiful the home is with all the stunning landscaping, yummy fruit trees,and great, private saltwater pool. The home is immaculate, and luxurious. Extremely clean, and absolutely stunning. Very comfortably furniture and great beds. Claudia, the owner is charming, and will be there when you need her for anything. Please, do yourself a favor and stay in this home. It is paradise!

About Haiku

  • Wo Hing Museum: A former temple brought back to life as a historic museum, the Wo Hing Museum displays fascinating artifacts that celebrate the Chinese history in the area.
  • Charter a Boat: Local companies offer the chance to charter a boat for a few hours or a full day, and many of them have fishing and scuba equipment available for rent as well.
  • Lahaina Jodo Mission: Explore the beautiful Buddhist temples and take part in one of the Buddhist ceremonies or yoga classes.
  • Honolua Bay: Located right in the middle of a marine life preserve, the crystal blue waters of Honolua Bay give you the chance to see rare and exotic fish up close.
  • Molokini Crater: The crater is home to well over 250 distinct marine species.
  • Go to the Beach: It wouldn't be a Hawaiian vacation without spending some time at one of the popular local beaches like Kite Beach or Ho'okipa Beach Park.

With well over 100,000 people in the area, Maui County is one of the more heavily populated areas in Hawaii and has no shortage of major events and festivals as a result. Watch or take part in surfing competitions during the Pohai Na Keiki Nalu Festival in June, sample delicious pineapple dishes while listening to performances from Hawaiian musicians during the Pineapple festival in July, or watch some of the best movies from up and coming filmmakers underneath the stars during the Maui Film Festival in June.

My family stayed at Hale Mauka Makai for 10 days and we wished we could have stayed for 100 days. From the time we first emailed Claudia to when Claudia met us at the home to the day we left, we felt completely at ease. Claudia really has a gift for hospitality, and it shows in the pride she takes to make sure her guests want for nothing. The house literally has everything you need for a Maui vacation. Ice coolers? Check. Bodyboards? Check. Beach umbrellas? Check. Snorkling gears! Check. And on and on it goes. The house. Everything written about the house is true. But no pictures or written words can describe the feeling of serenity and peace you feel when you inhabit it. Soul Quenching Hideaway in The Coconut Grove

On a scale of 1 to 5 Stars...Five stars are not enough! We give Sharyn and Jeff Stone and the Star Cottage at Huelo Pt Lookout Bed and Breakfast the same stars that appear in the crisp clear night sky from the view of the coconut grove just outside your door! So easy to view and relax while you lay in your hammock beneath the Palms... So, my dear Gentle Traveler, please go stay in Star Cottage and be open to all it has to offer. It has it's own vibe, and it's own special brand of awesome. From the moment we walked into this cottage, our souls just opened up to the "mana" of Maui. (Mana= Hawaiian for Spirit) Time in the hammock under the light of the full moon, making friends with Snowball the chicken, sleeping to the sound of gentle rainfall, and relaxing in the private hot tub are only a few of the moments of "ahhhhh" enjoyed in this cottage. Oh, and the fresh fruit and herbs on the property - I can't forget to mention that! All at your fingertips ! Exploring Maui, and blissfully being able to take back home some of it's "mana" are what made our time in Maui, and stay at Huelo Point Bed and Breakfast so very special. The graciousness, hospitality, and cool hippie vibe from Sharyn are by far exemplary. I didn't feel like a "customer", or even a guest... but a friend. Her warmth, professionalism, and "insider tips" on the "real Maui" were super useful. She is a fantastic communicator and was always readily available to answer any questions. What is NOT to like: No TV, only sometimes Wi-Fi. Total escape. This is what we were looking for--escape. The place is beyond words.... Pros: Private Lush property - full of fruits, plants, room to explore Accommodations are perfect - felt like home! Quiet. Secluded. Beautiful! Close drive to just about anywhere you want to go on Maui Ask Sharyn for local recommendations and call HER to book your reservations directly. Much easier, and she's so much fun to chat with! Cons: If you are a "tourist" and like "resorts" this place is not for you... If you are an adventurer and a traveler, you've found THE PERFECT SPOT. So perfect in fact, that I almost don't want to tell you how special it is here, but that wouldn't be kind of me not to share... The biggest con: Had to leave.
