We welcome all heartfelt people to stay with us and enjoy the magic of our peaceful surroundings.
IMPORTANT: This is an eco-friendly property, so please read the House Rules section to understand your role in keeping it eco-friendly and see our caution about river and access below.
The property has the main house and a cottage on it, which both open onto garden. The main garden is beautiful and has flat areas to sit, walk and play in.
The river sits below us, there is access to the river, which you enter at your own risk, via a steep bank made with tyre steps but the descent is worth it when find yourself in a grotto, making it a very magical spot.
The property is not fenced and there are beehives in a corner of the property so all parents/caregivers are totally responsible for children at all times and individuals must also be aware of their surroundings.
We have two very friendly cats in residence, and a little dog who is just as friendly and will happily allow you to tickle her tummy for as long as you like. They enjoy visitors just as much as we do.
Below are two other accomodation options we offer:
COTTAGE - which is fully self-contained and sleeps 3-4 Which is a separate listing on Flipkey (5735228)
ROOM 1 - THE GARDEN ROOM - which sleeps 2 Which is a separate listing on Flipkey (5736161)
This listing is for ROOM 2 - THE RED ROOM – 2 people
A large room, internal to the house, cool in the summer and cozy in the winter. Carpeted, good storage space, TV and refreshments. You have your own front door key.
There is one large sunny toilet/shower room for the guests. We offer the toilet /shower exclusively as we only rent out one room at a time (unless a group or family books both rooms then you share the toilet/shower between rooms 1 and 2)
We have an eco water system that does not tolerate chemicals very well, so we supply shampoo, conditioner and soap and ask that all guests refrain from using phosphates and SLS ingredients. Eco products are requested to be used whilst you stay here please. In summer as we are on tank water shower times have to be kept shorter (Dec- Mar)...if you are happy to adapt to these requests feel welcome to stay and enjoy our eco home.
You also can enjoy your own guest lounge area and the communal dining table, the patio and garden during your stay.
We love interacting with our guests and assisting you with local attractions and getting the most from your stay.
Pip and I can choose to relax in our separate 'apartment' at the west end of the home (to give you privacy, you have your own guest lounge area). Please note that during the day the main area is utilised by ourselves too and we cook in our main kitchen. We enjoy mingling with our guests and are flexible and will fit in with your being around to make your stay as pleasant as possible.
Wifi is free - WiFi Internet access is a range-extender from our main home. We prefer to turn this off over night, so please discuss details with us in advance so there is no disappointment.
Enjoy a yummy, sophisticated continental breakfast which includes cereals, toast and a selection of usual teas, herbals and fresh plunged coffee and is included in your room charge or for an added cost a full breakfast is available.
We eat mostly home grown vegetables (produced with limited spray,) free range eggs and organic, free-range meat and fish. We can cater for: vegetarians, vegans, gluten-free, high-carb, low-sodium, low-sugar, low-dairy diets.
During the day we have two cafes open in Whatawhata and full breakfast is served at the Lizzard and you can eat lunch at the pub and get great cakes at the Café too.
There are a number of takeaways 10mins from here offering: Pizza, Indian (excellent), Thai, Chinese and Fish-n-Chips. We can order and collect these for you if you wish in exchange for a contribution towards fuel costs.
Our home is fully wheelchair accessible.
Our home is definitely somewhere you can retreat to; in a perfect setting with a wonderful outlook over the garden to fields.
We live 10 minutes drive into Hamilton and there is a (limited service) bus between Hamilton and Raglan that stops at the end of our road.
The garden is beautiful and has flat areas to sit, walk, play in. However we must say that it is not fenced, there are beehives in a corner of the property, near the cottage and and there is a steep drop off to a fast-flowing river below so it is the individual's and parents responsibility at all times to ensure the safety of yourself and any children.
Please ask if you have any questions,
Pip and John your hosts
