Family and Pet-Friendly RESORT on Budd Lake
Family and Pet-Friendly RESORT on Budd Lake
Snug Haven consists of four cottages, each with its own unique configuration and rate structure. Peak season rates run from $225 to $500 per night based on the size of the cottage and occupancy; rates are lower Spring and Fall, making us affordable on any budget. Please call or email us for the rate for the cottage you want during the time frame you want it. We are also on Facebook. Or visit our web page for additional information.
Our cottages are all different and, as a result, easily adapted to whatever type of vacation you seek: a romantic getaway, a family fun week, a fishing outing, or golfing with pals. We are also a pet-friendly destination. And don't forget we're just minutes away from off-roading at Rocks 'n' Valleys, games of chance at Soaring Eagle Casino, and internationally famous Cops 'n' Doughnuts.
Three cottages have gas fireplaces; all have private decks; and all have a view of the lake, facing west. The ducks, geese, blue heron, and other wildlife are already patrolling the beach. In fact, we saw an eaglet sitting on the beach, perhaps learning how to fish. The walleye, panfish, bass, and musky are active and waiting for your lure.
The resort consists of four beautifully furnished, modern housekeeping vacation cottages on all-sports Budd Lake. The largest cottage is called the Hideaway and sits on a private beach with its own dock and firepit. The two in front of the photo are the Lodge (L) and the Nest (R). They are somewhat smaller than the Hideaway. The Retreat sits back off the beach about 75 feet. Together, the four units provide a wide variety of sleeping options that can accommodate over 30 guests at a range of rental rates. However, because we are a small resort, the beach never feels crowded.
In addition to four beautiful vacation homes located in a quiet, wooded waterfront area close to town, Snug Haven offers many amenities. We have a private 300-foot sandy beach with swimming area enclosed by our C-shaped dock and two firepits facing the water. Budd Lake is an excellent fishing lake containing panfish, bass, perch, walleye and trophy muskies. It's also an all-sports lake for those of you who enjoy swimming, water skiing, jet skiing, and diving. Unpowered watercraft are provided at no charge for guest use (kayaks, paddlewheel boats, and rowboats), and dock space is available for those bringing their own boats. Campfires and sing-a-longs are always welcome.
Our vacation homes are furnished with many handmade Amish items and offer a perfect mix of lakeside features (e.g., pine and cedar interiors) with all the modern conveniences of home. All homes have lakeside decks, gas grills and picnic tables plus cable TV, limited Wi-Fi access, AC, and full-size kitchens. We provide bedding and towels. Some cottages have laundry facilities and gas fireplaces. Each is different to allow us to accommodate many different types of groups: honeymooners, families with young children, families with teenagers, seniors, family reunions, and people with limited mobility. The Nest has a ramp to the front deck and an ADA-compliant bathroom on the main floor. Call us for more information about how we might accommodate your specific vacation needs.
We're close to many attractions, including the Amish quilt auction (May 16-17 and in September), Rocks and Valleys (off-roading), and Soaring Eagle Casino. Snowsnake Ski and Golf (5 miles south) just installed a 3000 foot zip line for those who love to fly solo. If you're a golfer, you'll find everything you need from the Championship Pohl Cat in Mt. Pleasant to the water hazards of The Tamaracks, with many other beautiful public courses in between. Antique lovers will appreciate the stores in Mt. Pleasant, Alma, Houghton Lake, Saginaw, and Gladwin--all less than an hour away. Diners might try Camille's on the River (Mt. Pleasant) for a special night out and anyone with a sweet tooth will want to say they've been to the now world-famous Cops 'n' Doughnuts bakery in nearby Clare. Pubs and restaurants offering craft beers are easy to find, starting with the well-known local MountainTown Brewery. Local Amish bakeries make amazing cinnamon rolls and angelfood cakes.
The resort is open mid-May through the beginning of October. We accept both Visa and MasterCard for your convenience (with a 3% convenience fee). Although our peak season is Summertime, Spring and Fall are especially great times to be here if you're into off-roading, fishing, golfing and other nonwater sports. We're close to State land for hiking and trail riding and just 10 minutes from Rocks 'n' Valleys for off-roading. The Clare County Fair is here each year in late July or early August.TripAdvisor property ID 3792432...Read more

We had a wonderful family vacation at snug harbor. The owners were welcoming and more than accommodating. How nice to have a clean, neat cabin with all of the comforts of home. The children (10 & 9) fully enjoyed the beach and watercraft. Being able to watch them from our deck was a huge luxury and allowed for some "adult time". The cabin was well appointed and neat as a pin! We went into town for groceries (nice, clean grocery store within 5 min) and laundry (wonderful laundromat close by too). We thought we might go sight seeing a bit but found that we never wanted to leave the resort. Thank you Don and Nancy for your hospitality! We can't wait to go back!

Snug Haven is a great place to stay. Perfect location, great beach, boat rentals. The owners are friendly and helpful. The cabins are comfortable and clean. Then there are the fireside concerts on some nights which make it even better. If you want to get away and enjoy some relaxation and fun, Snug Haven is the place to do it.

I've stayed at the Retreat twice and the Nest most recently, and my only regret is not staying longer. The location is secluded despite being close to the highway. The grounds are beautiful, the lake compelling, and the accommodations are clean and in fantastic condition. It's so spacious yet cozy inside that you'll have a difficult time deciding whether to go out or stay in, but either choice will be a good one.
A stay at Snug Haven feels like visiting long-time friends (who just happen to have excellent accommodations for you). You'll only feel sad when you have to leave.

The owners of Snug Haven where very friendly and provided excellent service. This was the second time I'd stayed there and both times the rooms were very comfortable and kitchen area was always spotless. Being right on the lake the view was breathtaking and it was so peaceful I could hear the gentle landing of the ducks in the water. Snug Haven is easy to find and not far from many main roads or highways. I loved the country feel of the bedrooms decorated with quilts and beautiful furniture. The fireplace gave the living room area a comfortable homey feeling. I very much enjoyed my stay there.

When staying at Snug Haven Lakeside Resort cottages on Budd Lake, I felt just like I was in the comforts of my home except that I had a spectacular view of a gorgeous lake and a calmness outside that allowed me to rejuvenate. We used the cottage for a pre-conference organizational meeting. Highly recommend this resort for family vacation and/or business needs.
