Wake up to the sound of water flowing in the creek just outside the master bedroom. Creekside Cabin is our newest vacation rental. This is a real cabin that was originally built over 70 years ago as a Summer getaway. The cabin is rustic, but super cute with original heart pine floors. It has two bedrooms, and one bathroom. The bathroom was just updated the end of August with an all new stand up shower, new vanity and toilet. The cabin is not in perfect shape and has not been fully renovated, but it is a rustic cabin on the banks of stream perfect for those who are just looking to get away and relax.
The master bedroom has a king size bed and a small seating area that looks out at the creek through the large picture windows. The master bedroom's creek view allows you lay in bed and watch and/or listen to the water flow by. The second bedroom has a new queen size bed and frame. We also have a pullout couch. There is also a fire pit right on the river which is perfect for relaxing in the evenings. The cabin is also walking distance to the George Washington National Forest. Trout fishing here is amazing year round. And Dry River (a 3 minute walk from the cabin) is one of the best Trout streams in the entire mid-Atlantic region.
The kitchen currently has retro 1950's or 1960's appliances, but they are still fully functional though. They are not perfect whereas they are more than 50 years old. The stove / oven is very old, but it is in amazing shape and we'll definitely keep it for decoration purposes later on because it is so neat. The kitchen sink is from the 1940's era, but it is still in great shape too for its age (keep in mind it is 70 years old or so). The kitchen cabinets are all metal and from another era too. :) We will replace all of these appliances and cabinets at some point, but they are in amazing condition for their age so we'll be sure to find another use for them as decorations. There is a brand new toaster, microwave, blender and coffee maker. The living room has a flat screen TV (with full cable and a Blu-Ray / DVD player). The cabin also has a land line phone in case your cell phone doesn't work out here. (some cell providers work, but not all).
There is also a decent size living room with a woodstove and floor unit AC. There is also a screen porch with real hard wood floors, (the screen is older but still functional). There is also a back stone patio that also needs work (the stones need to be re-done again). The fireplace will be able to be used at some point later this Fall, but we need to do some work to it first before it is usable.
The cabin is nestled between two nicer and larger cabins. One is only used a few weekends a month and rarely during the week. In the other cabin lives one of the sweetest and nicest older ladies, Evelyn, that you could ever want to meet.
This is rustic cabin... not a luxury cabin... so make note of this, but we have confidence that this cabin is still perfect for those looking for a real cabin experience. :)
We do accept one night reservations depending on availability, but there is a two night minimum on weekends (either Friday and Saturday nights or Saturday and Sunday nights unless we are not booked at the last minute, in which case we may allow for a one night stay over a weekend).TripAdvisor property ID 2427000...Read more
