About This Listing

Enjoy the beach right next to this well run family home stay. Great for small groups.

The price is for a big (!) double room with private bathroom. There's a huge bedroom with three double beds and private bathroom available as well.

The Space

Ravi’s, with two huge rooms, is a really comfy home stay, especially if you travel in small groups. Its main room has three double beds while the other room is a huge double with its own living room. Each room has a private bathroom, while the living room and the kitchen are shared. Clean, simple, nice. In the garden you’ll see lots of baby crabs trying to hide in their seashells.

Interaction with Guests

Ravi’s a happy chap and who wouldn’t be, living so close to the beach. He lives in a separate part of the house with wife and two children. Ravi works as a tour guide, so he can tell you all about the area and take you on trips if you wish. His wife made us sweet tea when we visited, and she’s the one who takes care of the house and cooks for guests if they want. Even the kids, five and three years old, were cheerfully ‘helping out’ with everything. A feel good kind of place.

The Neighborhood

The South Sri Lankan villages Kahawa, Rathgama and Ambalangoda have the best of both worlds: great beaches of their own and proximity to the busier beach hub of Hikkaduwa. This region is known for its relaxed beach culture, busy in high season, but unspoilt by mass tourism, and there’s even a good wave to catch here and there. A good place to spend that week of lazy seaside slumber.

Ravi’s is right next to the sea, so close you can hear the waves crash. It’s close to the Old Dutch road, and a quick jump in a tuk tuk brings you to Hikkaduwa, Marks Museum, the nearby turtle farms or the starting point of the Maadu River tours.

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.
