3 bedroom, 2-bath, Charleston-style single family home in the Oceanwood complex of North Forest Beach.
The first floor, which allows for covered ground-level parking of 2-3 cars, is entered through a sunny two-story foyer and stairwell. To the right, a mini-hallway leads to a full bath and the spacious first floor Master Bedroom with a king-size bed.
To the left, the foyer opens to a large L-shaped family room. The family room has an overstuffed seating group of sofa, loveseat and side chair, plus the entertainment center with TV/VCR/DVD & CD system. Windows and a set of sliding glass doors surround the family room. One slider opens to a cocktail deck with a stylish raised umbrella table that seats four, and the other opens to a dining deck with a gas grill and an umbrella shaded dinner table for four. Both decks have steps down to a sunning deck, located just under the family room window.
A wet bar is located just off the family room, between the dining room and kitchen. The formal dining area, which has a table for eight, a large slider door to the dining deck, and two stools in front of the open breakfast bar. The adjacent kitchen features all new cabinets, countertops, and appliances, as well as an alcove with a stack washer and dryer.
On the second floor are two more bedrooms that share a connecting bath. One bedroom has two twin beds and double closets, and the second features a queen-size bed, a TV, double closets, and a French door to a private awning-covered deck with a landscape view and a peek of the ocean. The pool is open year round.
Forest Beach stretches along the Atlantic Ocean between Palmetto Dunes and Sea Pines Plantations. Bike paths and neighborhod lanes on North and South Forest Beach eventually bring you to Coligny Plaza, the hub of the Forest Beach area. While competing with the natural beauty and lure of the beach, the plaza offers a variety of over 80 shops, restaurants and fun entertainment for the whole family. All beach distances are measured from the center of the complex.
“Great area - close to beach and pool; very clean!”

Check-in and out were awesome - the house code is a great way to get checked in. There was a musty smell in the house that got better after a day or so. The location was great for our family with two small children - not much vehicle traffic. The proximity to the beach and pool were another great thing. The cable went out during our stay and it was repaired in a normal time after we called it in. House was plenty cool and very comfortable for 5 people.

The deck is the best part of this home. The location is quiet and sometimes you can hear the waves crashing. The furniture in the living room and king bedroom was pretty good, but the red couch had an odd smell to it. We did not use the upstairs bedrooms, but the linens in both rooms could really use some updating. The bathroom upstairs was adequete with a shower that drained well. However, the bathroom downstairs was fairly small and the shower did not drain. The kitchen was nice and had just about everything you could need. The gas grill worked great. The biggest drawback to the home was the washer/dryer. The size is nowhere near adequate for the size of the home and number of people the home sleeps. Both units really need to be replaced. The walk to the beach seemed longer than was described because of where the house is located in the community. The house was nice and fit our needs and the price was right. But, the home really needs updating and would have to be updated before we would consider staying there again.

The house was nice. The grounds were clean and maintained okay. Our unhappiness is with the cost vs. the location. First, the house was not located waterfront. Next, Hilton Head really isn't an ideal vacation spot, it is too commercialized. The local restaurants are not very good. The cost (including airfare, car rental, house rental fee, local restaurant prices, etc) was too high for the experience. Therefore the experience was not good. I guess it's acceptable if you are looking for a vacation on the East Coast, but there are a lot better places to go instead.

We enjoyed this house very much but see there is some room for improvement. The washer and dryer are in sorry, tired (and somewhat dirty) shape.
The gas grill was a joke and a huge disappointment! We bought so many meals with the ability to grill in mind only to find that several of the burners did not work correctly, if at all, and it was beyond dirty with old, baked on food. It appeared as if no one had given it any thought in years. We ended up having to cook inside far more than we wanted to. We are heading back this year and have hopes it may have been replaced!
