'AdamsView-2' is the 1,350 sq ft lower floor unit of our Hood River home. It has a fresh, modern 2010 interior, huge patio, expansive Gorge & Mt. Adams view and a garage for stowing your gear or car. Located in a quiet, close-in neighborhood in town.

What is quite special (vs nearly all 2-bdrm places in Hood River) is the breadth of the Gorge view and the fullness of the Mt. Adams view plus the quiet neighborhood and garage. From the living room, kitchen, master and 40'x20' patio there is a 120 degree view of the other side of the Columbia River Gorge, featuring a full view of Mt. Adams. Places in or adjacent to downtown suffer a lot of noise from the I-84 freeway, trains and downtown bustle (diesel pickups, Harleys, parties etc.) Our place is much quieter but still close-in.
Just a 4 minute walk is the large swim center pool, tennis courts, softball field, a Thursday farmer’s market and Jackson park’s amphitheater with free weekend concerts and outdoor movies. The main grocery store is a 90 second drive downhill. Downtown is about 15 blocks to the east - a 15 minute walk or a 3-minute drive or a short bike to Hood River’s finest pubs, shopping, art galleries, fine cuisine, sushi, pizza, ice cream, theater, wine-tasting, bike shops, wind-sport shops and coffee/internet cafes. But closer-in to downtown is noisy with vehicles, trains, motorcycles and I-84 traffic so getting back to our quiet neighborhood is relaxing. You're more likely to notice dove and quail calls at AdamsView.
Go a short ways to the west to visit several close-by best-of-the-region wineries, within 8 minutes by bike (Cathedral Ridge (award-winning Pinots); Marchesi (sumptuous Italians); and Mt Hood (desert wines). Also close-by to the west is Post Canyon (2 mi.) which has some of the best mountain bike single-track and free-riding, and running trails on the west coast (70+ miles worth). Dozens of other great single-track trails and spectacular view and waterfall hiking trails are nearby.
The house is sited on the edge of a small bluff so the neighboring houses and trees are below your Gorge/Mt Adams sight-lines. The bushes around the yard are trimmed to provide for both the Gorge/Mt view and for privacy.
As you enter the lower level from a private sidewalk and off-street parking/garage, you are welcomed by double French Doors and a striking view of snowy, 12,281 ft high Mt. Adams. This bright daylight basement unit has cherry floors, a fresh modern Ikea kitchen, Large Cuisinart electric skillet, new dishwasher, coffee-maker, toaster, refrigerator, microwave), an updated double-sink bathroom with shower, 2 large King bedrooms with lots of closet space. A comfortable atmosphere and a relaxing getaway for those looking to enjoy the warm sunny days perched on the edge of a small bluff in a quiet neighborhood.
The master bedroom has a comfortable King bed, with a large picture window and view of the sunrise and Mt. Adams. The second bedroom has a King bed as well and good light from a large window. (A deluxe, comfortable 22' high AeroBed queen bed is also available in the unit; it inflates in 3 min's with the push of a button and fits in the utility room.) A round patio table and chairs, new cushioned lounge chairs with ottomans, plus a modern gas grill BBQ are provided, with extra tank. The gorge/north-facing 40 ft x 20 ft concrete patio has choice of sun or shade on warm summer days.
The lockable 2-car garage has the left bay available for storing your vehicle and/or drying/storing your water-sports gear, (the other bay is reserved for use by the upper unit Adamsview-1). The trees in the front yard offer summer shade for driveway parking. Fits 2 cars in the left half of the circle driveway + 1 in garage, plus ample on-street parking.
The home has a 2010, premium, central heating and air-conditioning system with your own zone/thermostat and separate ducting. It also has an electronic air filter, plus electrical and plumbing upgrades.
There are dozens of trails and lakes sprinkled around Mt. Hood. Mt. Adams hiking and climbing is 30 miles (48 kms) north. There are numerous great, scenic routes for road biking right from the house. Exciting, year-round Class 3-4 white-water rafting and kayaking is available on the White Salmon or Klickitat rivers (14 miles/22 kms N) and the Deschutes River (60 miles/95 kms SE).

Close-in-town neighborhood is MUCH quieter and more private than properties adjacent to or inside downtown (which are subject to loud noise from I-84 traffic and trains, and downtown traffic and parties.) Only a 4 minute drive to downtown or a pleasant walk of about 15 minutes. it is closer to the grocery store, Jackson Park and the swim center, wineries and Post Canyon mt-biking trails as well, vs downtown locations. Repeat visitors to Hood River often opt for our place once they stay in/adjacent to the downtown noise. In addition to a garage space, there is 2 cars worth of parking in the driveway plus always ample on-street parking for bigger rigs or trailers.

My seven year old son and I rented the adamsview for a week for his spring break. We were close enough to Mt. Hood for skiing and super close to downtown HR. Nice a cozy with a great kitchen and it was fully stocked with all the amenities to make for a perfect vacation. Wifi /tv for rainy days. Would rent again or recommend to friends and family. This was a true home away from home. Thanks!
