Never leave any garbage outside the cottage …to much wildlife

1. Can we drink the water?
The hot and cold running water in the cottage is pumped directly from the lake and, although regularly tested by the Ministry of the Environment, it is not drinking water. You can buy spring water at the local grocery store or take your own water containers with you.
2. Why is the water a yellowish brown colour?
Fox Lake has a high mineral content which accounts for the yellowish brown colour. It may not be the nicest looking water to take a bath in … but it is natural! In fact, the lake is considered quite healthy according to the Ministry of the Environment. We have filters in place to have the water as close to clear as possible.
3. What wildlife can we expect to see?
Lots! There are loons, blue herons, beavers, groundhogs, racoons & deer. Bears are rare but in the past few years they have been sighted down the road at dusk.
Beavers will pass by in the lake in front of the cottage twice each day (like clockwork!). The chipmunks have become quite tame but remember they are rodents and please don't allow them in the cottage.
Ensure that the doors are always properly closed so you don't have visitors with you in the cottage at night.
4. What is the fishing like?
That depends on how good you are! There are plenty of pike, walleye, and bass. … who can resist an outdoor fish fry!
(Fishing licenses are available at Canadian Tire and other locations)
