On the very highest spot of the Caldera rim, on Malteza square in Imerovigli, stands this patrician mansion from the mid 19th century.
The village of Imerovigli, perched more than 300 metres above the Aegean Sea, is widely recognised as the most exclusive location on Santorini and a favourite among seasoned travellers. Sheltered from the bustling crowds elsewhere on the island, Imerovigli captures the essence of what Santorini is all about – serenity, tranquillity and a surreal panorama.
This luxury villa has been meticulously refurbished by its architect owner to create a minimalist and contemporary home whilst maintaining the elements and spirit of its original architecture.
The house is characterized by the soft and changing Aegean light pouring in through its numerous French doors and large bay windows creating an ethereal atmosphere throughout. The openings form a spatial and visual connectivity between the villa’s inside and outside allowing sea views from almost all rooms.
The materials, furnishings and appliances of the house have been carefully chosen and designed. The decoration relies on subtle differences in natural texture – sand stone, blond oak, woven sisal and white linen.
The core of the villa is composed by the spacious and stylish living and dining room area. The living room with its imposing cross-vaulted ceiling has been furnished in a sleek and modern manner in order to create absolute comfort whereas the focus of the dining room is the unique and seemingly endless oak table equally suited to dining, leisure and work.
To the en-suite double bedroom on the upper floor leads a sculptural wooden staircase. This bedroom has a private balcony with stunning views of the Aegean Sea connecting the suite with the outdoor terraces. On the ground floor there is a second double bedroom also with sea view and separate bathroom. The twin bedroom is located in the wing of the house and also has its own bathroom. The bathrooms display linear forms and purity of material incorporating exclusive fittings and fixtures.
The modern kitchen combines clean lines with maximum functionality. It has views both to the garden and the sea and is connected to the airy and welcoming breakfast lounge with direct access to the courtyard.
The south facing courtyard is an oasis in its own right with olive trees and bougainvilleas encircling the inviting swimming pool. This space provides ample opportunities for both relaxing by the pool and entertaining by the generous and sun-sheltered garden table.
From the courtyard, stone steps lead to the mansion’s roof terraces offering unparalleled 360 degree views of the island and the surrounding Cycladic archipelago. At sunset, the terrace lounge area provides an ideal setting for the aperitivo hour - before hitting the local night scene.TripAdvisor property ID 4484658...Read more

My friends and I had an amazing holiday in Santorini last year and we have just booked for this summer to stay in Malteza house again as it really enhanced our holiday.
The booking process was easy and the owner was very helpful and suggested local restaurants and bars that he thought were worth visiting - we did and they were all great so make use of his knowledge when booking.
The house was just amazing - the main reception room is just perfect for a group of friends - spacious, light and a really stunning room to spend time in. The pool and terrace were added bonuses and we spent a lot of time making use of both of these. The house was spacious enough for six people and we never felt in each others way - if you needed your own space you could have it! The facilities were all high end as was expected after reading the house description, we weren't disappointed and we didnt have any problems during our stay.
The location was ideal, a lovely walk into the main town and the area we stayed in felt quite prestigious, the house reflected this. The owners have reallly created the perfect high end holiday home and the attention to detail was much appreciated and really did make our holiday to Santorini the perfect experience, hence wanting to repeat it this year!
I have recommended this house to friends since my holiday there and of course, loved my time their so much that we are all going back again. Santorini is a beautiful island and staying in this house was just the icing on the cake - perfect!

Located in the heart of Immerovigli, Malteza House is your charming home away from home. With its private walled garden, this self-contained villa comes complete with your very own splash pool and breathtaking views of sunrises and sunsets from anyone of two rooftop terraces.
Vivi and Johan provide all the comforts of home. This simple, yet elegant 3 bedroom/3 bath villa comes complete with a welcoming gift basket, a music and video library, internet connection, fresh linens, beach towels, and a fully equipped kitchen to create quiet dinners at home, or for entertaining.
Set just off of Malteza Square, there are no steps to navigate, as is often the case with accommodations located on the caldera side of Santorini.
Parking is available on the street near the square and there is plenty of public parking nearby.
If Immerovigli is one of Santorini's best kept secrets, then the Malteza House holds the key. Away from the crowds, yet within walking distance to Fira & Firastafani, you will discover welcoming tavernas, neighborhood grocery stores and warm, friendly shopkeepers hidden in the many secret passageways and paths of the caldera.
