Description

We (the owners) are from Colorado, U.S.A., and we rent our island home "Casa Lirio" when we are not on the island. We have done our best to make sure our home is as inviting and comfortable as possible, as we want all of our guests to have a wonderful, relaxed time during their stay. There is colorful artwork and handmade furniture throughout this home, many touches you will not find staying in a hotel or other rental property!

There is AC on the main floor livingroom/kitchen areas and the bedrooms are equipped with ceiling fans.

We are located on the south end of the island on a semi private road in a quiet, safe neighborhood, with views of the ocean on the Caribbean side and views of Cancun on the bay side from the roof-top terrace. There are only 5 other row houses and a B& our lttle road, and since the south end of the island is very narrow, although not beachfront, you are close to the water on both sides!!!

Our home was built in 2010, and remodeled in 2018. It is a 2 br 2 ba home, sleeps 6 (2 queen beds and 1 regular twin and 1 loft twin), with a full kitchen, fenced back yard with mature banana trees a coconut tree and native flowers, living room with flat screen tv, local cable, DVD/Blue Ray, and fairly reliable wireless internet. *(At times the internet and cable (same company) goes down across the entire island... When it does, it's usually back up within a day...)

We have AC and ceiling fans on the n floor and ceiling fans in both bedrooms.

From the Caribbean side bedroom or the roof-top terrace at night, you can enjoy the relaxing sounds of the ocean waves breaking on the cliffs, instead of the sounds of golf carts/mopeds/loud music that you will find renting a property in one of the colonias or downtown area...

There is a horse coral with horses a one minute walk out the front door.

There re several restaurants/bars, in our area, a secluded, little cove/beach and walking path along the cliffs overlooking the Caribbean within 5 minn walk from the property.

You will also find a Mayan Ruin, Garrafon Parque (snorkeling), gift shops, and ice cream shop and a coffee shop, as well as the island's new water park and slides (Parque De Los Suenos) within an easy 10 minute (or less) walk from our home. If you purchase food or drinks at Casa De Los Suenos, you can use their pools and slide, or use their kayaks, paddle boards and snorkel equipment for FREE!

Downtown and North Beach are a short 15 minute taxi ride (at the cost of approximately $10usd one way), and there are many local restaurants within a 5 minute taxi ride or less. We can give you our local taxi driver (Tomas) number and he will pick you up at the front door and return you home at a time good for you.

There are several grocery stores and markets on the island, but the largest one (Chedraui) is only a 5 minute taxi ride from our home (smaller local markets even closer).

If you are coming here to snorkel, scuba, swim with the whale sharks or are interested in fishing... we can refer you to the best business as well.** If you are coming to swim with the whale sharks or are interested in viewing the sea turtles nest on the beaches... you need to come to the island during the months of June, July and/or August. But fishing, snorkeling and scuba diving is great year-round.

There are no car rentals on the island (you need to do that in Cancun if you want to have a car during your trip), but you can easily rent golf carts, mopeds, four wheelers or bicycles here on the island. If you decide you do not want to rent any transportation of your own, calling or waving down a taxi is easy and inexpensive anywhere on the island (and SAFE).

** If your family or group is looking for a place that sleeps more than we can accommodate, our friends own the 2 bedroom home right next to us which is also available for short-term and long-term rentals... so if interested, you may be able to rent both!

**PLEASE keep in mind that this home is located in a nice, quiet family neighborhood... so if you are looking for a place to get your party on... it is not going to be here - sorry.

BUT, if you are looking for that nice, safe, tucked-away caribbean getaway in a private home to call your own, come stay at Casa Lirio!

RE PETS: Not all private properties on the island allow pets... but we do! To bring your pet, you must have prior written approval from us, and pay a $150usd non-refundable extra pet cleaning fee in advance, and you must pick up after your pet and keep them off ALL furniture PLEASE!!

If you plan to stay awhile, there are several laundry facilities within a 5 minute drive from our home, and they are all reliable and inexpensive. Drop your clothes off in the morning and they will be ready for pick-up the next day.

Getting around

The island is only a little over 4 miles long, so it makes getting just about anywhere a breeze! Golf carts are a popular way to get about, as are mopeds bicycles and taxi's. If you rent a golf cart we suggest you try renting from Coco's or Pepe's first. And remember you get a better deal if you pay in USD, and you get a better deal if you rent it for several days or a week at a time. Golf cart rentals (depending upon the time of year) run between $30usd and $80-usd per day. You can also rent a car at the Cancun airport, and bring it over on the car ferry. Believe it or not, it is fairly easy driving in Mexico, and it it very easy to get to Punta Sam where the car ferry is from the airport.

Interaction with guest

Although we live in Colorado, we are reachable by email or cell phone day/or night during your stay in our home on the island, as well as before hand. Got a question about our home, the island or anything in the surrounding Yucatan??? Just ask! We are happy to help! Seriously, keeping in mind any time-differences, please feel free to call either of us if we can be of assistance, or email anytime. Should something come up with our home or you need special assistance with something on the island, our property manager Marcelino is a phone call away, and can take care of anything that needs immediate attention.

How do damage deposits work?
