Additional Location Information

Galata Flats are Serviced Apartments located in a region called Tunel in Beyoglu, at the end of Istiklal, the high street of the city, world famous pedestrian steet where you will witness of almost anything and everything. Istiklal Street starts with the Taksim Square and end with Tunel Square. Beyoglu (also known as the Pera district) is Istanbul's Soho and every visitor should experience its bohemian lifestyles, cafes, bistros, bars, shops as well as eateries of all kinds. It is a meeting point for both locals and visitors and it is quite common to see thousands of pedestrians marching one directions and many thousands more towards the other, almost at all times of the day. There are douzens of art festivals, exhibitions, theatre or opera recitals taking place during the year.

A small quartier called Cukurcuma is home to the city's antique shops and in Cihangir, just next door to it, you will see many movie actors, painters and poets sipping their cup of teas next to your table in a cafe in the French Street.

You are steps away from Tunel, world's second oldest metro, one of the symbols of the city. This short ride of only 581 mt, tying Beyoglu to Karakoy since 1871, where you may jump into the tram to get to the Historical Peninsula. That time Pera was one of most prestigious residential areas and Galata was the popular trade centre of Istanbul. Businessmen living in Pera had to walk everyday to Galata Karakoy. The distance from Karakoy to Pera is not much, but the road is a tough hill. A French engineer who had noticed the difficulty, had proposed this railway project to Ottoman Sultan and the construction has started right after when the permission was granted. Since that time trains are going back and forth between Karakoy to Tunel in every 3 minutes and the trip takes about 1,5 minutes. No chance to miss your station because there are only two.
The one you hopped in and the one you are going to get out.
